55 goals for JVR and Kessel. Add Pavelski's 29 goals in 59 games and at 84 goals this season I think that is the highest scoring line in the Olympics.
Next highest scoring would be Canada's Marleau, Perry, and Getzlaf line at 82 - SJFreez19
Great stat.
I really hope this line sticks together, will be fun to watch those two unleash with a centre like Pavelski (sorry Bozie!!!) |

If not, Team USA wishing Bozie had dual citizenship. |

they said that last time as well
they can whine all they want.. but the truth is the olympics are just too good a marketing opportunity.. it showcases the sport they are selling on a world stage... it increases viewership and they know it.
so they will whine.. and ultimately let them go. - Dozzer
Disagree. I think this is it.
I don't think it increases viewership at all.
I don't see any bonus for the NHL and they know it.
Enjoy this one... It's the last one

thats fine.. i completely disagree with you.. the upward curve in viewership these last four years has been like nothing the NHL has ever seen.
you really think vancouver didnt have anything to do with that?

the NHL will just use allowing them to go as leverage against something they want.
its all posturing. If the players want to go, they will

Just my hunch from what I've heard about the topic.
The owners hate it.

It definitely did.
The problem is, the games aren't at prime time in this or the next Olympics. And in the states, NBC isn't about to show them in prime time unless they're big games. The Olympics aren't going to help them to increase viewers in the USA.
With a World Cup of Hockey done at a time when hockey doesn't have to compete for prime time, they can show a lot more of the games and further increase viewers. It isn't about what brings in viewers, it's about what will bring in the most. |

I think this is the last time for the NHL.
I don't care about past Olympics.
I want the NHL to keep going. But I bet they don't. Until they announce they actually will go, you aren't going to change my hunch.

I'm willing to bet a lot more than one does.
If I'm an owner and my team is in the hunt there's no way in hell I want my star player, whom I've invested tens of millions in going and playing his balls off in the middle of the season.
If Kessel gets hurt and is out for the year could you imagine the uproar?

Risk of injury every practice, every game, regardless. |

I understand your point. I just think that the boys will play in the Olympics as long as they have a say. |

It may have...so might also the development of homegrown US born players, which is a bi product of teams playing in the Sun belt, which is a direct result of Wayne Gretzky playing in LA, after he established himself as a super star with ...you guessed it, THE EDMONTON OILERS!!!!! Whooo hooo! The Oilers made hockey!!!!!!We're bigger than the Olympics!!!!! God Save Peter Pocklington!!! |

You are paying your player millions to take those risks for your organization.
Competing for fans in seats in your rink.
Risk is obviously part of the deal. Why do you think we kept hearing about insurance costs for sending players to the Olympics?
It's a massive risk that you as an owner didn't agree to.

hockey is a game
and a business
if the players cant play in the olympics if they play in the NHL
then i guess the NHL is going to lose star players - who will be paid in other league, ala KHL for 10 mil a year. |

I doubt it.
(Only cause I think this is the last time the NHL bothers with the Olympics)
But if they do... Yes he'll be going - robin_steele264
Exactly.
Leave the Olympics for Amateurs and bring back the World cup......in the summer...every 4 years |
