If the Hawks were a bad to mid-level team grasping at straws, hoping for TT to lead the team to the promised land, and save the franchise I might be inclined to agree with your Cub analogy. Might. Fact is, this isn't a bottom feeder, and they are not counting on him to save the team, just looking to see if he might be able to plug a hole. A 3-5 game look see is not going to scar the kid for life if it goes less than swimmingly. It's not like he's going to stay in the lineup and languish in a 13th forward role if he doesn't light it up. He'll be fine, either way. Why not take a peek?

At some point you have to see what prospects can do. It's nice to wait until guys are 22 if you can, but you shouldn't wait if a guy is ready.

Because both the US and Canada are pretty good at it. The other teams are getting better. Really isn't much different than when the Soviets were beating teams 19-1. There are plenty of sports in the Olympics where one country dominates. By that criteria they should just abolish the Olympics.

While most of the posters pine for the Finnish Flash to be the 2C the Hawks have been looking for since the days of Tom Lysiak, he is totally the exact opposite of the type of center needed to play with Kane. IMHO. Kane needs a center with size who will drive the net and work the boards.
