99% of all prospects are risks, there were lots of people who didn't believe in Kane when he was drafted either. The same comments people are making about Teravainen were made about Kane. TT is in now way a lock to stick in the NHL, but up until now he's done everything you could ask of him, except be 6'4" and 220 lbs.
If trading TT makes the team better then Stan should do it. But there is potential value in keeping him too. You could have a guy with top 6 talent for a reasonable cap hit for 3-5 years before he's in line for a monster deal. - DarthKane
Cost controlled difference makers are so huge in the cap era, I don't think Stan can afford to trade someone that talented until he has at least a year in NA unless its a slam dunk deal. Like Kane, lots of people thought Toews didn't have the offense to be a #1 center and thought he'd be a 2/3 tweener. No one is a sure thing until they are. |

Anybody know about Selanne's injury? It said he missed the last 2 periods with an upper-body. That would be a big loss to Anaheim. They need secondary scoring - tomcat24
Last infos here were "injury not serious and can play the rest of the tournament". Did so and played + scored vs Norway today. So no injury blow for the Ducks. |

Always have to laugh when I read that Krivokrasov stuff. When I played the first versions of EA sports NHL (btw that's how you become a Hawks fan in Germany ), he was a player in the minors. I dressed him and he was a weapon in the game Obviously it didn't work out for him that good in real life... |

Thanks. There's still hope both getzlaf and Perry get injured. nothing too serious, though. |

I'm down with all 3 halves. I can go with any of those. I wouldn't mind waiting since I think he will become pretty good and look good with Saad and Kane, but if we were offered a young player or 2 that can help now AND in the future I would do it Buffalo could give a nice package. I really like Bjugstad or Ryan O'Reilly. Not saying those would be the trades, though. Those types of players. Lars Eller, too and not 1-for-1 deals, either - tomcat24
What exactly do you like about Eller TC? |

Nice work Al and you can only beat the teams on your schedule but Canada beating Austria would return $2.10 on a $2 bet. #MONSTER #YAWN. - philco28
Turned out good for Babcock as he has gone Q. like with line combos.

The contract value and flexibility matters so much...
Hard to know ceilings until the kids become men.
Toews/Kane/Keith/Seabrook have changed so much physically since they arrived in Chgo.

Well, except he pretty much changes 1 All-Star for another. Hope Sharp sits out all the rest. Dunc needs a rest. He looks terrible. His shots are getting through and everything. |

Haven't seen Canada yet, but seems to me the shorter offensive zone wouldn't be good for Keith's shots from the points: easier for shin pads to get in front of him. |

Babcock isn't satisfied yet....Crosby hasn't gotten going.
That said unless Sharp can play on Crosby's line...Which he could, otherwise Babcock may keep Carter Toews and Marleau together.
Austria had no shot anyway but once Doughty scored on a 40 MPH wrist shot from the blueline and then Weber tees one up at about 105 MPH that goaltender was done.

Mid-break question:
Why are there so many left-hand-shooting hockey players?
If there is one good lefty in a starting rotation, baseball managers are thrilled; two or three left-handed hitters in a line-up is a reason for optimism.
Same with other sports: only a couple of lefties on the PGA tour, very few left-hand-shots in basket ball, almost no quarterbacks....
But it seems that hockey line-ups are half filled with lefty shots (and not many left-handed goalies). |

I have heard different theories but don't know if any are to believed.
Some think as training was more prevalent for young kids they were taught to put strong hand on top of the stick when shooting...Over time it led to an imbalance.

Not really Saint. He is getting pretty much all of his shots through. Those he has missed the net with, he is setting guys up for a tip. |

Could be. A lot more room to create different angles though. |
