for sure. didn't mean ever, just where he's at now.
and he wasn't super effective when he was in that spot.. adequate and even showed flashes, but rightfully sheltered at present.

I don't mean to slag him. talented player with a fair amount of upside, especially when u have some real minute eaters in front of him. and his potential alone is gonna garner some value.
I just took exception at A TON of value as previously mentioned. but that's just semantics really.

throw him to the wolves on edmontons sorry excuse for a defensive corp and id wager it wouldn't be pretty at present

As I said above, I think this is an accurate picture of Leddy right now. He's got a few miles on him, but he really is still a kid (23?).

I don't see him play, but I have heard that he's a bit of a floater (especially troubling because he's a big boy) who doesn't bring it all the time. I'm sure others can fill in more here.

Like I say, I don't see him play so what I wrote doesn't mean much. There are a few on here that see or have seen him play. I'm sure they'll chime in eventually. BTW, ol' Nobbybulin ain't so good anymore, eh?

Good post...good points. Leddy still has a long way to go in many areas. He really (IMO) is not that effective off the rush. His speed makes him a threat but his final touch or pass is often left wanting. He's got an excellent, heavy and accurate point shot and that might be his best offensive weapon. I personally wouldn't part with blue chip prospects to get him, but that's me.

As for McNeill...haven't seen him play much in his first real pro season, but saw him a few times out West last year and he's not physical at all. He'll throw down once in a blue moon and acquit himself well...but he's not going to challenge Clutterbuck, Dustin Brown or Matt Martin for the HITS title.

He's still young, has a ton of upside and may become more consistent physically, but most nights he'll leave the room with a dozen eggs under his shoulder pads and return with at least 11 in tact.

I would agree that Leddy isn't worth a king's ransom, but that doesn't mean that Stan can't get one for him. He just needs to find one GM enamored of the potential (remember he is still only 22) to overpay. Alex Rodriguez wasn't worth $250 Million when Boras got the Rangers to bid against themselves. The Herschel Walker trade almost single handedly built the Cowboys run of the 90s. You just need to find the one partner willing to overpay.

Mo...it's actually a take off of a line by late Leafs owner Harold Ballard about a Swede that played with the Buds back in the 70's...i just added my own twist to it.

I really haven't seen much of the Ice Hogs this year but McNeill's numbers are decent for a guy who is in his first full season in the AHL. That being said, who knows how some of these guys will turn out. We've guys like Pirri and Morin put up very good numbers in the AHL and then struggle to stay with the big club. On the other side of that we've seen 5th rd picks like Shaw and Kruger become solid contributers to a Stanley Cup winning team.

The second goal for Canada clearly crossed the line after the whistle sounded. I have no idea how they reviewed that and called it a good goal. On the third goal for Canada, it looked like Knight's stick was held leading to the breakaway. Three times Canada had six skaters on the ice yet they were only called once for too many men? I only caught the second half of the replay, but it was bad.

McNeill thinks the game well, has nice vision, hands and shot....but can he break through ????????????

Other than the slam dunks of Toews and Kane...Hawk first rounders have really struggled to break through since Seabrook in '03.

I saw MM in PA 3 times...where he was Joe Superstar. He appeared to coasting in his final year in junior and is now trying to make that huge adjustment to playing against men full time, while also having to re-establish himself.

How about Sheldon Brookbank for Eberle

such a brilliant skater and great at rushing the puck.

but when one looks at his minutes, offensive zone starts and qualcomp; I think his contribution might be abit skewed.
that said; I can think of tons of teams that would be interested, but I also think alot gm's would be hesitant to pay a ton.

what does he look like as a top pairing guy with tougher competition instead of being sheltered behind keith and seabrook? playing 23-24 minutes a night instead of closer to 16 like he is now?

so if you've got the pieces to shelter him, you also probably don't have a ton of value to give up. (picks/prospects is suppose) and if you don't, huge gamble to mortage a lot of value on an unproven big minute guy

- hugefemale dog77

The Oilers need a player like Leddy as much or more than most.

At 22 he could play 20 mins a night now in Edmonton and would improve your team.

Bowman would have little problem, there would be a long line....The only question is whether he would feel secure enough trading away a player who isn't close to his prime and could be a top 3 defender once he is.
