I think Leddy fetches A LOT in return should Stan choose to shop him. I think his upside as a puck-moving defenseman is very high and my guess is a lot of GMs feel similarly. I believe Leddy will be playing long after Oduya is out of the NHL and his true potential probably won't be reached for another few years so, all things being equal, I don't think there's any choice if the choice is between which one of those two to keep, though salary cap concerns may mandate keeping Oduya and moving Leddy. - Baaaaaaannerman!
such a brilliant skater and great at rushing the puck.
but when one looks at his minutes, offensive zone starts and qualcomp; I think his contribution might be abit skewed.
that said; I can think of tons of teams that would be interested, but I also think alot gm's would be hesitant to pay a ton.
what does he look like as a top pairing guy with tougher competition instead of being sheltered behind keith and seabrook? playing 23-24 minutes a night instead of closer to 16 like he is now?
so if you've got the pieces to shelter him, you also probably don't have a ton of value to give up. (picks/prospects is suppose) and if you don't, huge gamble to mortage a lot of value on an unproven big minute guy |

Sounds like Dahlbeck is a gem at times in Rockford. Do you think he could take over the #Project Brookbank/Rozy role next season Eli? Looking forward to Johns too. - ikeane
I believe that Dahlbeck has a good shot at platooning with Roszival next season. |

Good points, beaotch. Some here love Leddy and some don't like him much because they feel he's not developing enough. I think you played the middle well on this one.

That would be great. If he's the 7th d-man he can be sent down to Rockford when he doesn't play or if needed to bring up an extra forward. Roster (in)flexibility with the extra guys this year has caused a bit of trouble, imo. |

I know I did.
didn't feel like getting into another conversation about Canada's political system with captain republican again.
long story short; talented skater, great off the rush, but totally sheltered and given easy minutes. an interesting player, but I doubt you'd get a ton for him. |

I think that ended when Pizza Man arrived. Could be a coincidence, but from then on the Hawks (notable exception - Phoenix series) have been cooking. I think they decided they Leddy wasn't ready for the Top 4. |

Watching the Ogi speed-skating, and I think I saw Handzus skating in the 1000 meters. Just missed a medal... |

Good deduction Mo
and I think your recall is spot on. I was simply pointing out that Nick hasn't always been so sheltered. He actually did play pretty well during his promotion as i recall and enjoyed his best offensive season (3g, 34 a in 82 games) in just his 2nd year in the league. |

I agree. Leddy was being asked to do too much at too young an age, imo. What he's doing now is a better developmental track, and I hope he keeps climbing. - mohel
Agree here - Leddy's going to be fine...he was basically thrown into Soupy's spot the other season and the kid wasn't ready. Oduya, who I've never been a huge fan of, has done quite well from when he first arrived. Doesn't hurt he's playing with Hammer.
Meanwhile got the DVR set for tomorrow...US - Slovakia and Canada - Norway. And the US plays the Ruskies at 630am central on Saturday. |

His present upward trajectory is definitely better served as the 5th d-man. His recent willingness to engage physically is most welcome and hopefully something he implements permanently into his game. |

@ESPNChiHawks: Brandon Pirri is named the MVP of the AHL All-Star Game. He had two goals and an assist for the AHL team in a 7-2 win over Farjestad BK.
Pirri is upping his trade value. |

Nice to see, but i don't put much stock in non-contact, shinny games.

for sure. didn't mean ever, just where he's at now.
and he wasn't super effective when he was in that spot.. adequate and even showed flashes, but rightfully sheltered at present.
I don't mean to slag him. talented player with a fair amount of upside, especially when u have some real minute eaters in front of him. and his potential alone is gonna garner some value.
I just took exception at A TON of value as previously mentioned. but that's just semantics really.
throw him to the wolves on edmontons sorry excuse for a defensive corp and id wager it wouldn't be pretty at present |
