Remember when there was actual hockey to talk about in mid-February?
*sigh* - Ogilthorpe2
Last year in February we were still lossless. Ahh, the memories. |

True on the Fall of the English Empire and the mess it would create.
By the way, the most hated country in Sochi... Canada. They remember Bobby Clarke like the 1972 Summit Series was yesterday. We can't always be angels, but we can break the legs of their best players. - wizardofi
For a true perspective on how I really feel about Canada Wiz, in 1972 I was sitting about 5 inches from my TV because the picture was so bad it was the only way I could make out who was who. When Henderson scored the Series winner I probably jumped as high and yelled as loud as any Canadian at that moment. |

for realz?? wow
pontificating-express one's opinions in a way considered annoyingly pompous and dogmatic.
cultural Assimilation - the process whereby a minority group gradually adapts to the customs and attitudes of the prevailing culture and customs
gamut- a complete range or scope of something
secession-the act of withdrawing from an organization, union, or especially a political entity
what are you struggling to comprehend here?
jesus, I feel like im giving English lesson. - hugefemale dog77

Gee, I wonder what country gives out the most money to countries in need? We are such a horrible people. I truly wish this country would turn its back and let other countries step up. It will never happen. Its too much a part of the fabric of this country. |

I was too young to watch it. I watched the videos years later and was actually shocked and appalled at some of the things we did. The Clarke slash, Cashman threatening the ref, Vancouver fans booing team Canada.... |

The Soviets were just as brutal Wiz. Real sneaky about it. One of the classic moments was Phil Esposito's post game interview. You could see the hurt in his eyes. The Canadians weren't in shape at all and the Soviets were in prime fitness. |

One of the better yet less famous Canadian hockey speechs. The Russians were good at butt-ending players in the ribs and solar plexus. We also seriously underestimated them and would only allow NHL talent. Bobby Hull would have made a big difference in this series. Too bad he signed in Winnipeg prior to this series. |

Funny thing is he's like me, a non-Canuck fan in the middle of canuckville. Much easier being a hated Blackhawk fan here than an Edmonton or Alberta Fan at the moment. Though the hockey gods have a sense of humour, and the Canucks will be in the same boat as Calgary and Edmonton shortly. |

They used their skates and they loved the spear in the back of the knee too. |
