I'm actually looking forward to the first star player to come out as gay. It will give teams no excuses to not play him.

Jason Collins is washed up and was never very good. No team was going to take on the media barrage for a 12th man.

I hope Michael Sam doesn't drop in the draft, but I think he will. He is a legit 3rd-4th round pick. I see him being picked on the 6th or 7th round.

I think he is a little undersized. He could be a decent rotational player and a special teamer.

This work thing is killing me. You go and get a new job after 15 years at one place and the new job has you working harder. WTF . Anywho, it's so hard to only try to read a few posts here and there. And did I read correctly someone say trade B. Schenn +++ for Vanek?
- Deasr1

sorry to hear about your job. but as for that second point, my god i hope

as do i. but you know, on one hand i can see the team not wanting to bring on the media circus for a middle round pick. not to totally defend an organization, but my issue is more with just society that it even has to be such an issue. i realize thats pretty Utopian thinking, especially for me, but oh well

I agree with you. Its not just sports media. Every major media outlet will be there to cover training camp. They will all be asking dumb questions and want one on one interviews.

Some player will inevitably say "I'm so tired of this poop" and the media will take it as the player hating Michael Sam when he's really referring to the media.

Maybe. I'm just biased because 1) I hate watching him skate, he looks like a 6-year-old, 2) he's not very productive offensively (so far, this season) nor is he doing things away from the puck to be productive, and 3) we traded Max Talbot for him. So yes, my vision of him is blurred, I admit. I just do not and will not like the guy.

100% agree. I guess it's not the popular opinion, but I miss the hell out of Talbot.

You might be the only Pitt fan I will actually talk to in here, but don't wish bad karma on the Flyers like that.

I think he can transition to OLB in a 3-4. Tbh, he'd be a good fit with the Eagles because he's a very good edge rusher.

So in light of Michael Sam, how would everyone feel if their favorite hockey player came out as gay?

But like I said, slightly undersized. Chip wants Bigger people to beat up those smaller people. If Andy were here, he'd draft him in the first round with that poop eating know-it-all grin of his.

The guy wrote this long thing about how the Flyers need to trade for Vanek and give up Schenn, a 1st and a prospect.

Needless to say, he was shot down pretty quickly. We had to explain restricted and unrestricted free agency to him.

They have a similar player in brandon graham who they probably will cut or trade. He isn't a fit with the Eagles but the kid can play, no doubt about it.

Honestly, I like that you guys are always good, because the level of play is unreal. We don't get that high level with most teams. I really don't like Pitt, I LOATHE Crosby, but I love the rivalry. I was sad to hear about Letang.Too young and good to have stuff like that happen.

I remember feeling similar when Podein was traded. I think it'll take me longer to get over Talbot though.

That is true, but he was a HUGE reach where they traded to get him, 12th I think? Could have had Earl Thomas. Andy really pissed me off the last couple of years with his drat. 2 years a ago and last year are very good drafts. I think Philly in general has had two good years of drafts for the last 2 years, in general.

Who do you hate the most on the Flyers? Hartnell, right?

always is definitely a tough thing to maintain in sports, but i think barring the unforeseen the pens and flyers should both be good for at least the next 5 or 6 years. the rivalry should be nice and healthy.

awful thing about letang. i dont know why, but i just have a feeling he will be able to bounce back from it.

and Crosby. not much else needs to be said haha

no not at all. Rinaldo. thats easy. by a mile.

if you want actual NHL players though, id have to think for a moment. hartnell, is so annoying to say the least, but he is hard to legitimately hate. hartnell is the type of guy im sure you love if he is on your team. and if thats the case, i cant say id actually hate him. Rinaldo could go to the pens tomorrow and id still loathe him.

i think hartnell is in for a decline soon, but he works hard out there and by everything ive seen is a great dude off of the ice. Rinaldo insults the game by putting on skates. I used to feel the same way about downie, but since his second go round with you guys, hes been pretty fine with everything.

He can transition to OLB. I think he could fit on this roster if the Eagles don't end up taking multiple OLBs before him.
