I do like Subban, but the Norris is voted on by the Media who seem to base most awards on offensive stats. Babcock is insistent on defensive responsibility, so Subban will have a short leash whenever he gets the chance to play.
Also, Subban hasn't done much his last 15 or so games, so you can't say that he's going into this tourney as a hot player.

I agree. The awards voted on are useless and meaningless IMO....especially if your a Western Conference player.

I doubt Brodeur's availability will impact the Sabres return for Miller.

That is debatable...he is having a good year no doubt, but I think his prime was 3 and 4 years ago...much like Luongo's.

Hawks need a #2 center, not a player that only plays RW. They have a pretty stellar top 2 on RW in Kane and Hossa. Hemsky does not make any sense

Looks good. I know people don't like Carter with Crosby, but Canada won gold last time and Crosby was a ghost for most of the tournament. He's always going to attract the other teams top defensive pairing, which opens the ice up for lines 2 & 3 which are arguably stronger lines.

I think Sid will be far more effective this time. He's 4 years older, stronger & experienced. Add to that the larger ice and I predict a better performance for 87 this time 'round.
Now Carter, he has potential to be effective if he takes that famous shot of his. Babcock said after practice today that if Carter keeps passing back to Sid, he won't stay on the line. For size & speed, I'd want Nash up there.

Why is Brodeur considered the best of all time? Stats? Makes no sense. A great goalie he is who has always made the big first save and the big save and the right time. But best of all time? I have watched a lot of brodeur and the devils. He faced a lot of garbage shots from outside the circles and bad angles with that torturous style the devils played. He's great, made the big save when he needed too but not the kind of goalie that stole many games. He has never been bombarded with shots consistently. And he is absolutely horrible when the puck is within 10 feet of the crease.

I just don't see it. Great he is but greatly overrated as well

Stan Bowman has been strategic in his deals. A first round pick for a rental RW when Hossa, Kane, and Versteeg/Saad comprise your top 3 RWs is poor asset maintenance and I do not see it happening. The Hawks just need to be tinkered, not overhauled. I read a story that Teravainen may be given an audition at #2 as early as this year after the Olympics. I do not see anything that Edmonton would be willing to trade that the Hawks would want. I would love to see RNH, or Yakupov in a Hawks sweater, but do not see Pirri, Morin and a late round 1st rd pick doing that. Not seeing the compatibility between these clubs regarding trade talks.

He has the skill but his cap hit is the killer in that deal. Hawks are tight against the cap, so are better served by a #2 center on an ELC. Also, Gagner is on the smaller side. if you want Bickell in return for Gagner, the cap isn't as much of a problem, but no way the Oilers take Bickell and Pirri for Gagner (just an example). With Toews and Kane due for raises, that 1st round pick is better served to continue adding depth and players on ELCs, not a high priced center IMO

Hjalmarsson is at a cap friendly deal, one of the Hawks best defensemen. I would list him as one of the untouchables. Cap casualties I could see as available (perhaps) would be Leddy, Oduya (who I like on a pairing with Hjalmarsson), and Bickell, I'm sure Pirri is gone before the trade deadline and Morin may be another prospect moved.

Reiterating, I don't see a deal that would benefit both sides between the Oilers and Hawks, even in the offseason.
