I totally understand have St. Louis on the outside looking in....when you're a replacement player it's hard to argue that.

Carter over Duchene? Ouch...that hurts twice.

1 - Carter shouldn't even be there.
2 - Carter shouldn't even be there.

This is what TSN has:

Chris Kunitz - Sidney Crosby - Jeff Carter
Patrick Sharp - Jonathan Toews - Rick Nash
Patrick Marleau - Ryan Getzlaf - Corey Perry
Jamie Benn - John Tavares - Patrice Bergeron
(Martin St. Louis, Matt Duchene)

- Iggysbff

I'd rather have Bergeron and Toews together if Bergeron is playing wing, those 2 would make an incredible shutdown line that can score. Play Sharp or Nash with them and you're set. Let the other 3 lines get matched up against opposing lines 2-4 and dominate.

It makes no sense for teams like Washington or Minnesota to go for Brodeur. Teams like Pittsburgh and St. Louis make more sense. Teams that don't need help RIGHT NOW to keep them in or get the into the playoffs. Fact is Marty isn't even in the top ten regular season goalies anymore. He's below average at best in the regular season.

However, he is still Marty and knows how to win come playoff time. Teams that have solidified themselves in the playoff hunt would be smart to pay a lot to get him out of New Jersey for the first time to significantly improve their Cup chances come playoffs.

I think it has more to the thinking that Crosby is a puck dominant player and Kunitz/Carter don't need to handle the puck a ton to be effective. Kunitz is there to forecheck, go to the net, dirty work, etc. Crosby the main puck carrier. Carter tries to get open for a shot(his shot is lethal, ridiculous wrist shot) while the other 2 work.

That's just me speculating though.

Looks like Bergeron is slated to play the wing with Tavares and Benn. I'm sure Bergeron will take a majority of the defensive zone face-offs and be on the top PK unit. I imagine he will get 10-12 minutes a night.
- fudd1689

id assume he floats in defensive situations in this case as Tavares should be getting more than 12 mins of ice time

why is carter on the first line and not duchene who is much faster and can make far better use of the open ice.

I look at those lines and don't like them. Hall and Giroux would make this team so much faster and tougher to play.

the only medals I truly give an eff about is mens slopestyle and mens hockey.

but I don't really agree with your post

it's once every 4 years. and even though I could give a fuk about short track speed skating or biathlon the other 205 weeks, I find myself cheering my azz off for Canada in every sport. and that in itself makes them exciting. get all patriotic and sh1t.

also, I wanna bang Tessa virtue and that womens mogul skier who won gold. both total smoke shows

It's not a bad way to go as a tiebreaker when you have a bunch of all-stars to choose from. I still see a guy like Hall float quite a bit when his team doesn't have the puck and I'm guessing Babcock wasn't interested. Great player, and in terms of pure offense he's one of the best in the game but maybe not right for the team.

Carter rains hell fire on his enemies from the slot. The guy has a hell of a wrister. He's going to have to fill Stamkos' shoes there though.

but I more meant even the guys on the team and allocated minutes.

Hall would look a lot better on the Ducks line than Marleau will. Couture too, but he didn't recover from his injury on time anyway. Giroux with Crosby instead of Carter would have been better too, however I would assume those two don't like each other very much. Probably has something to do with why Giroux didn't make the team.

it's okay, winning 13 cups makes it easier to forget the bad stretches that every team goes through. pity you can't do the same.
- sensnucksnocups

That's a bit of an over-exageration.

By my count Toronto has won 11 Cups since the WHL folded into the NHL in 1926. Those 11 wins however, were all in the original 6 era, which ended with Toronto winning it during the last year before expansion, 1967.

Not to take away from what the Maple Leafs accomplished during that period but bragging about cups wins when you only have to be better than 5 other teams seems a little ridiculous when compared to today NHL and you have to beat out 29 other teams.
