I think the most recent 2nd unit was...

Downie-Schenn-Lecavalier
Couturier-Streit

If Vinny wasn't there I guess Read or Raffl would be, but Vinny has by far the best shot on the team amongst forwards. So he deserves his spot, and (like Streit) is unlucky to not be on the top unit.

- Feanor

I'm not a fan of Couturier on the point. Imo, he would be better used in front of the net. He's what? 6'4?? Put him down near the crease for some deflections or easy tip ins. It could do wonders for his offensive confidence.

Is that a fact or an opinion? Not sure how the crystal ball factors in here.

So did Batman, and he was able to come back stronger than ever while rehabbing in a cave.

Lecavalier has all of the technology in the world at his disposal.

What I'm getting at is, as long as he employs Morgan Freeman as the world's best electrical/mechanical/chemical engineer, he'll be able to save Gotham City from a nuclear bomb.

And that took him over a year! Vinny came back in a month...he is superhuman!

I really think it's time we fired John Stevens.

I'm not crazy about him on the point either. But I don't know about playing in front of the net either.

what do you guys think is this team overachieving right now or are they playing to their potential?

im just going with jsaq's post the other day and will just enjoy the ride and not try to define this team

I'm trying to figure out if this is the work of Berube we're seeing or the players are just playing out of their minds. It's just funny they start out awful, fire the coach, then things start to turn around after a few games. Also, we get our asses kicked one game and the team responds in the games after.

I think they are playing about as well as they can right now, as currently constituted.

I think guys like BSchenn and Couturier have upside to give more (they are painfully young).

The goaltending has been a huge bright spot, IMO.

I wish they were doing better and dominating, but I am happy to not be deep in discussion as to what the Central Scouting draft list looks like in February.

Since the 2 trades

Voracek 135 points
Simmonds 123 points

Richards 112 points
Carter 104 points, (including his brief stay in Columbus).
Carter has missed about 35 games or so.

But we did lose out on Tomas Hyka...who I think has since gone back to Europe.

I understand where the coaches are coming from by putting him on the point, I mean he's so good defensively it's like having another defender out there. I just want to see him in more offensive situations. Just give the kid an opportunity to score, and I think he would take advantage of it.

Plus, I believe he played in front of the net on the pp in juniors. Not saying that it'll immediately pay off, but I just thought it was something to consider.

I bet Hyka on a line with Jason Akeson would have been pure magic.

Hyka is the only thing standing in the way of Akeson's award sweeping dynasty.

I think they're trying to take advantage of his playmaking raw skill and his hockey sense playing him on the point.

They'd make Gretzky and Kurri look like Zherdev and other Zherdev.
