No one would have known his name if not for him being taken by what was a Leafs draft pick in the Kessel trade.

Yeah because of the teams they're on. Switch teams and your opinion changes.

Yup... Kessel outscored Kane (goals-wise) on mostly garbage teams whilst Kane could only muster one 30-goal season on a Toews-centered, dynasty team.

(frank)ing Kane fanboyz!

So, is the great Patrick Kane better than Kessel?

Let's see.

20-Cent is 25 and has 1 30-goal season.

Phil is 26 and has 5 of them including this season.

Hmmm.

Perhaps total points should play a bigger role in the conversation as opposed to just goals?

K guys I'm the leafiest leaf fan but I know Kane and kessel are very equal. Yes Kane plays with teows but that's not to say he wouldn't be good without him, for christs sake look at St. Louis without stammer tearing it up, or even better. Malkin when crosbys hurt. Some players, like Malkin only thrive to they're fullest when they're relied upon more. Who knows maybe Kane would be the same. Don't judge what you've never seen. What I see is kessel is better at even strength and Kane's better on the power play. Which could be attributed to coaching but unlikely if you knew him before he was drafted.

meh Kessel is a better sniper, Kane is a better dangler/playmaker
whole conversation is pointless, both of these guys are just behind Malkin, Crosby and Stamkos as best forwards in the league .
