Pretty sure there would be better places to start if that is the goal.

New Coach/Systems.
Horrible luck in regard to injuries.
A complete month in which we did not win at all.
One point out of the playoffs.

Jesus, didint you guys go through this same poop last month, and yet when the exact same happens to us it's all doom and gloom.

We lost most of our defense and best player played injured/didnt play and were the worst team in the league in January AND YET WE ARE ONE POINT OUT. come on now

- Whiskey-Tango

Trust me, it was all doom and gloom here as well.

We went through this for almost a decade, so we're pretty well informed and experienced in these matters. Enjoy the ride. 1 point out, battle for 9th, games in hand factor...the best part about excuses is they help you believe anything you want.

When Vancouver arguably had its best roster ever assembled, we lost 9 games in a row and Leaf and Canucks fans in unison started talking rebuild........

Then we went to the cup final.....( in no way saying that will happen this year, but it offers some perspective)

Let's just see how the team plays when healthy after the Olympics before we agree to disagree

We've been saying this all season long, and despite rarely coming close to a full roster, it sure isn't holding us back or the reason why we struggled when we did.

It's all good though. You can be content with the Canucks situation. Im not really too concerned with whether they rebuild or not. My team is actually worth following these days, so I'm good either way.

Key difference is our team is young and still learning to play together; most of better players are still in their prime, just entering it, or a few years away.
- gravyface

Yup. The Leafs are very young and in a playoff spot.

What? Bolland or losing Lupul for a week?

Let's see how the leafs would do with Kessel being injured/ playing injured in a shell of his former self for a complete month.

That would be more comparable.

truthfully - at the beginning of the year I thought (with the addition of one top six forward) we could compete for a top five spot in the West. Over the course of the past three months, I've been proven wrong, yes I was wrong.

We didn't have the depth to acquire a top six forward, injuries and age have caught up to the team. That's the reality of it. That said, there is still value in the line-up if Mike Gillis has the brains to try and get something for it. Therein lies the 71 million dollar question.

I'm gonna disagree with you there, Toolie.

For a while our top centre was Carlton. The team was screwed.

There is literally no point, i see that now

Understanding, or at the very least acknowledging two conflicting perspectives is not in these two fan bases ability.

How so? Kessel is far better than any of your forwards, so its not a fair comparison. A guy with 25 points more than your best forward is more comparable?

We've been without JVR, Clarkson, Phaneuf, Kadri, Kulemin, Lupul, Bolland, Bozak at times this year. No excuses were afforded to us. Tampa lost Stamkos and kept rolling. But hey, if it helps you to deny and cope, go right on ahead.

Sure, but the Leaf's offense is built around Kessel, ours is around Henrik......

For christ sakes......

At its best, the post lockout Leafs were a tenth place team.
At our worst, we are a tenth place team.

ITS NOT THE (frank)ING SAME.

And that is the point. Your guy is no longer good enough to have an offense built around them. Times have changed, those days are over. The problem is that you think it will somehow start getting better even though guys are aging and declining.

My point is that losing Henrik is comparable to losing Kessel from a team perspective

Whiskey we can perspectively relate to your optimism and your GM's motives because we've been there and done that and just now are coming out of that rut....and we can see your train comin down the tracks so to speak. thats the truth...and if you dont want to turn into the oilers and flames, your GM better get the (frank) off his ass and start dealing/retooling now..and thats going to cost some players you may not want to get rid of
