He'd be a perfect fit beside Phaneuf and would allow Gunnerson to play with Franson on the second pair. That would leave Gleason to play with one of the kids. However, it would probably cost a defenseman to get Bieksa out of Vancouver. Either Gunnerson or Franson sounds about right, for a trade. Just do it and let the chips fall where they may.

You have to look at the trade in age difference and cap hit. There's 6 years difference in the age of both Gunnerson and Franson. Both are 26, while Bieksa is 32. If your going to retool, this is an option.

Um Vancouver has 5 defenseman that are easily in leafs top 4. Hamhuis is defense 1st and day and night better then any of the leafs d men. Doubt he'd wanna move east and price would be very steep as well
