Did Nabby imply their is tension in the locker room?
- mighty13duck

I think there has to be. The losing itself is bad enough..that's when guys look at other guys poor efforts and even though they may not say it they think it. Then you have Viz who likely will be the next guy looking to get out...not saying the Isles don't have a right to stop him from the Sochi but its got to burn his a$$. And of course you have Vanek, the guy as a player has every right, but now guys have to be resenting him. They had the best line in the NHL,things were clicking, JT got up close to Sid in scoring and there was a buzz about the Isles again...then they hit a snag, went a few games and then the announcement was made and they got derailed....there is no way there can't be tension, resentment with Vanek and a few guys....and even though they still have same rights he has and would do the same thing all they would see is he was a big part of the team having success already and would be moving forward....I'd say the players wanted him gone before the freeze more then some of us.

Vanek and AMac both dinged in this game, but both are still on the bench. Why exactly are they even playing tonight? Strictly for appearances for the one superfan out there who might believe the team's going to make up the 12-point deficit?

what are you going to do sit them out till they are traded in a month?

What team would sit them just because they are going to be traded later in the season?

Pretty sure he said not be so nice to each other.

This, again, is the coach- anyone who thinks the problem here is not the coach is ignorant of basic facts...and I know the regulars here don't think that, I'm just saying this for posterity. As I said last night, they should have been in fear of the idea of "already being on vacation" before last night, which they clearly were not. My guess is that you are dead on here, UIF- this is the WHOLE issue. Everyone is just so HAPPY with whatever happens, because there is no accountability for anything. This is why all of the players love the coach so much.

Are there players who suck? Of course there are, and none of us have shied away from that. Should Garth be doing SOMETHING? I believe so, but I understand it's not that easy to part with prime chips, without knowing how others fit in, etc. However, the coaching is sh*te, and that is the first and foremost problem here.

Perfect example- JT.....superstar player, considered one of the best in the league, and offensively, he IS every bit of that. That said, here's the dirty little secret: he's sh*t in his own end of the ice- there are several goals against this season, including (I believe it was) the first one at Yankee Stadium, for one example, that were on him directly, for not picking up his man. He can't win a faceoff to save his a$$, which is why Okposo takes a lot of them in the defensive zone. He has ELITE talent. Someone with a track record and a thorough work ethic in the coaching ranks could teach him those things QUITE EASILY, however, I'm afraid that, as I heard about Poulin, no one is teaching anyone anything in this locker room, excepting how to accept mediocrity.

This place just seems to be a place where, as long as everyone kisses the boss's a$$, they can all get paid to hire all of their friends to get paid to do nothing. That has to end, and I just hope that either Wang sells the team, or understands what is happening here, sooner rather than later.

Well, first, three weeks out of that month makes up the Olympic break...

And second, if the games have no meaning, then yes. The worst thing that can happen is having one (particularly Vanek) or both of these guys getting hurt and then getting nothing for them. If their agents wanted to leak information that made it that much harder to get the best deal, then frankly they can deal with the consequences (at least in Vanek's case...not sure where the info on AMac came from). I'm just not sure having AMac logging 25 minutes a game...7 more than any other d-man last night...is the best way to protect a potential asset, particularly one who's best and only good attribute is putting himself in front of other teams' shots. And seeing Vanek limp off of the ice every game seems rather risky as well.

it just doesn't work that way, you don't sit a player.. just because you plan on trading him at the deadline 4 weeks from now.

why not? It's not as though either players value will be effected regardless. Besides you can say four weeks but I'd really say it's more like two due to the Olympics

How about we try to get BETER as opposed to falling back into the past.

Vanek is playing BS hockey. I watched Buffalo games and he would not do this under Ruff. I wish Flintstone would at least split him up from JT to see if he can do something with Nielsen/Bailey.

The off-season trades/signings of Regin, Bouchard and CC must of had negative impact on the 3rd/4th line players from last season's team. I bet Martin is pissed he is not getting more time because CC is there, same for Cizikas in case of Regin. I bet they all expected bigger roles this years and Snow brought in 3 replacements. I wish JT was never made a captain. The problem is that there is nobody on this team who can be a captain. Nielsen comes close with on ice presence, but not sure how he is in the locker room. KO, JT and AMAC are young and need to focus on their game not uniting the locker room.

Torts might be on the market the way Canucks are losing. He might inject some adrenaline into some of these characters.

That should be the first order of business for Snow. Replace the head coach with someone with a proven NHL track record of success, and let him choose his assistants.

Second, trade Vanek, Amac, and Nabby for the best you can get.

Then, it's "be bad for Ekblad". Hopefully they can draft him or Reinhart's brother.

I think the problem is Wang, really, but I don't think that it's that he doesn't care, it's that he's a stereotypical corporate CEO- as long as everyone kisses the royal hiney, it's all good. Take Kumar, for example- I don't think he was the fall guy, I think he just polished the emperor's knob every time they came in contact, and so he was free to do whatever he wanted, up to and including criminal activity. This is why we all know the likes of Milbury should be fired five years before it happens, for another example. This guy needs to learn when he's being taken to the f***ing cleaners, or he needs to get out of the business.

Here's the difference- the team I root for in English soccer, Arsenal, lost 5-1 yesterday, to Liverpool. The goalie....not the coach, the GOALIE, said, "this was f***ing embarrassing," exact quote- because that team EXPECTS to win; at the very least, it expects more than that from itself....it doesn't just say, oh well, we battled hard, and I don't know why this is happening, and f**k me. That's the problem, here- no expectation of anything except everyone genuflecting in the king's general direction. After that, it's a big f***ing party. That is unacceptable, and someone needs to point that out to him.

It really is a county club. Roloson was right then and very little changed. Of course the players love Cappy. He does not demand anything from them. Wang looks at the GM and coach and players as family members. As long as everyone is having fun then nothing else matters.

Good thinking thou. But I dont think St.Louis could do a deal like that, they are pretty tight to the cap, we would have to take back roster salary for them to fit Vanek in.

I think they can get a better package for Vanek although he's sleazily a rental to anyone but Minnesota and they don't have a goaltender worth asking for, I'd call Ananheim about Gibson and Vatanen for him and AMac

How does Capuano still have a job. He actually believes the Isles were the better team. Even has his players thinking that. They disappeared for the entire 2nd period and if not for the 5-3's its a 3-0 loss
- lileapers

Snow shoukd have Lavy on the phone durimg the olympic break and hire him before the season re-starts. The playoffs are not a reality. 22 games left with Vanek and A-Mac on their way out the door. Hire Lavy, fire Cappy and call up Strome and Lee to let Lavy coach this group for a few games to evaluate for next season.

Moulson on pace for 18 goals over 82 games with Buffalo...
PA 18g 32a in Colorado...
This is what we want for our top line? I'd prefer to aim a little higher. Okposo is already an improvement on PA. It won't take much to find a better player on LW than Moulson was.
