YEah with this team who knows. I mean I would not be surprised if Vis wanted out anyway. He is a veteran on a team that is going backwards

Really? Someone posted the other day that he wasn't feeling well enough to play and it was a decision he and the coach of the Olympic team made? I guess if he's feeling well enough to play in the NHL he'd be well enough to play in the Olympics. If this is true it's facking ridiculous.
Why woukld they have Hamonic play one meaningless game on Friday coming back from a concusion and prevent Vis from going to play for his country? Also they let JT, Vanek, and Grabs go? Weird double standard if it's true?

- Cptmjl

I don't know. Vis is coming off a significant injury, a head injury, that only cleared up a couple of weeks ago. It cost him 50 games. The isles have $5M+ invested in him for next year. I don't blame them for telling Vis "no" to the Olympics. If He gets his bell rung over there, in a tournament that means nothing to the isles, they could lose him for part or all of next year too. Marc Savard never recovered from his concussion issues. I think erring on the side of caution with Vis is not a double standard , given the other Olympians on the isles are injury free and have been for most of the year, certainly no head injuries to speak of.

I heard on the NHL radio network that Visnovsky wants to be traded now since the Islanders held him back from the Olympics.

Ok so now that is three guys who can be dealt at the trade deadline. Vanek Amac and Vis. If Garth does not get a decent haul for these guys he should be fired on the spot. For this team to be successful they will need to fire Garth and the whole coaching staff. This team will never EVER be any good with the clowns running this team, and if you don't think JT at the end of his contract is going to run you are nuts. This needs to happen NOW

Not having Vis play the Olympics is something I applaud Garth for. If Vis was seriously hurt majority of the season, why should we risk further injury to a key player for next season. Let him rest up for a few weeks.

If Vis is going to throw a hissy fit over this (Which I seriously doubt) then good riddance. We need to do better than him anyway.

This only matters for draft position at this point.

Next year, is the year you want #1, get McDavid.

Next year we wont have a pick, and if we are battling for 1st overall again all of us on this board should reevaluate whether we should support this team. Also we have JT who I would much prefer being the face of this franchise than Mcdavid.

I figured JT would compliment McDavid perfectly.

I agree with this but then how do you explain Hamonic coming back from concussion playing on Friday in a meaningless game?

That's why I'm torn on the rest of this year. It would be nice to get a top 3 pick but I'm not sure I would want to give up next years pick. With our luck they keep this years pick and JT's blows out a knee next year and we lose the 1st pick to the sabres

Hamonic said he was ready for the game before so if the guy is cleared and healthy why not play? Also unlike us those guys still thought going into the game that they still had a shot at the playoffs Its not a meaningless game to them

It's going to be a tough choice for a not so bright guy to make as far as keeping this years or next year. Hopefully we play our usual lights out when the games mean nothing. Expecting Bailey to start piling up points now that they mean nothing.

Is that why they played like crap? To make sure they get an early vacation unlike last season?

We could be the first team with three top centers in the entire league to finish last overall.

Someone just slides to the wing. Can never have too many great centers.
