the main dread I have is that they overpay at the TDL for an aging player
- Marc D

I can totally see them making a Kubina-esque type deal again.

Couts 71% on face offs today including 5/6 on defensive zone draws

Hall 63%
G 58%
B Schenn 58%

not too shabby

Could be. The Canes are probably one more loss away from being sellers.

Since the 6-1 Boston drubbing, the Flyers have yielded 9 goals in 6 games, 5 of them in 1 game against Anaheim.

They finished 5-1 in that span. The dreaded CA trip included.

seems like every time the flyers get their ass kicked they come back strong

It's time to quit trying to define this team and just enjoy the ride. They're inconsistent and don't look like a serious contender, then the go through the Detroit-California-Colorado-Calgary chamber of horrors and get 10 out of 12 points.

Detroit is struggling, but always tough. LA is having trouble scoring, but still has a damned good team, San Jose is an elite team and the Flyers outplayed them badly. Colorado is another good team, playing well and the Flyers did a good job there as well, and finally the Flames, while not a good team, comes in on a win streak of their own and the Flyers gut out a tough win.

This stretch could have been make or break for them. They gutted it out and got their points, kept pace in the standings and did it against a rough schedule

Saw the first period but wasn't able to watch the 2nd and 3rd, but I will later. Great way to head into the break. What's the story on Grossmann and Timonen?

Some of the possible rentals available at the deadline given current standings. Canes probably not looking to move Hainsey to a division rival though. Not too much to get excited about tbh.

I don't know about Grossmann, but on the Flames' goal, the puck was blocked by (I believe) Timonen and bounced right to a Flame.

My guess is Timo hurt himself on that block.

I agree. Not going to give up much to get any of those players. Rather go with what we got.

Is it fair to say their goalies stole the last two games?

Both the Avs and the Flames had a lot of grade A, in close scoring chances.
Flyers could have lost both games if it wasn't for strong goalie play.

I do think even with this nice streak going the Flyers will end up listening to offers on Downie. It just seems like Berube isn't using him all that effectively, and he's struggling with the system or something. He just seems..off. As a rental his value could certainly rise though. It shouldn't be hard to get better value than Talbot for him at the deadline.

Supposedly the Flyers are talking to Dallas and Edmonton. They seem to like Trevor Daley. I'd be interested in him, because he's a capable two way guy with mobility, although he brings little physicality

So now we have what 19 days without a game? Hope Bill has some good topics lined up. Not an easy task.

He would be a nice add. I wouldn't be sure what I'd be prepared to offer for him though.

Unfortunately Bill had a lot of practice last year.

I'm guessing he'll be following our 5 guys and maybe give some thoughts on possible rentals Homer could be targeting.
