Be a little easier with a 1st round pick
With the ones that KB3 picked up, he's due for a pretty quick rebuild... - Fosco
Vancity should do okay in the draft as well. He has 4 first rounders! |

My fantasy team is stuck in no-man land's territory. I still struggle to understand who Immature Male's first few picks were spent on. - AlexF
Not sure.
I know he gave up quite a bit for Kassian, but I can't remember who his first picks in the original draft were.
You still have all your picks for the offseason draft, so you'll likely get at least one very good player.

It should help everyone's depth. That's like almost 40 less players owned, right? Makes waivers a little better. - Nucker101
It'll help a bit. Definitely less for the top teams.
But then my original point stands that it would be easier to pick up depth if you (as well as myself) still had a 1st rounder. |

I feel bad for him, he made those trades not knowing/understanding the full extent of the rules. He thought it was a complete redraft next year. The Perry trade especially was just brutal for him. |

Maybe, but waivers early in the season are full of players that end up having very good seasons. I picked up guys like Trouba/Killorn/Kreider myself. |

You picked up Trouba after I dropped him because he was on IR for two months
Was planning on picking him and Forsberg back up eventually...
Yeah, I got some solid players off waivers as well. |

Funny thing was that I was debating everyday for like 10 days before I finally picked him up to decide whether or not it was worth it. I was eyeing Forsberg myself as well, but I figured he would be back up and down and I don't have the patience to hold guys not getting regular games. |

Can we blame all this on Hartley?
If Winnipeg...the fing Thrashers....finish #1 out of WCanada...this is going to be the easiest road trip in the league the next 3 yrs. |

Yeah, I was trying to keep one revolving spot available, but I think I got too attached to whoever I had in that spot at the time and was trying to work a trade to open up a bench spot.

Are you willing to move anyone? Also, I assume you're going young or are you trying to get a team together to make a run next year? - Nucker101
I have no untouchables. It's never a team I would have drafted. That said I've been pooling for a while and won't be moving average players for poor players just for the sake of it. Have a look at my roster and make an offer if anything takes your fancy. |

I would laugh my ass off if we won the lottery from 22-24th place, how pissed would the fools in Alberta be. |

I think it might be best to set the ground rules sooner rather than later on what we intend to do for the draft next year. It will help people map their strategies and use their draft picks (or not) as added leverage in trades.
I'd personally be in favor of reducing bench spots and thereby reducing team sizes. Those surplus players, + the 2 teams being dissolved, can join the newly drafted players in making our own draft more meaningful. |

Losing Santorelli really affected this team more than people realize!! - LeftCoaster
Not picking on you... But put it this way... Santorelli was masking the real problem all along. If this teams success is riding on Santo... They are in deep trouble... OH WAIT.... |

Most of the details of the draft have been discussed either on here or on the pool page.
I'll make a formal message board about it on the pool board this weekend, though, so all the details will be in one place.
The bench spot poll is currently 7/6 for those in favour of not dropping bench spots.
We have 16 managers confirmed for next season, so as soon as everyone's voted we can move on from that (unless it ends in a tie...).
I'll also make polls for the stat category suggestions you made on the weekend, including the suggestion about every team dropping a few players into the draft.
Personally, I like that idea, at least for this season, since a few teams have changed hands. |

Oh they clearly didn't have the top six group to compete with the LA's or SJ's of the West but he was keepin them competitive. Underrated player! |

He was a great pickup for sure... but this losing streak is great for getting people to be honest about this clubs issues. |

When the season started there was alot of false optimism. The changes that needed to be made... Many of us were asking for after the finals loss.
Many were saying things like-- You don't change a team that came within one game of a cup...
WHAT A LOAD OF CRAP. After the loss to the Kings in the playoffs it should have started. |

Agree with this. If you have a tie to another city then it's fine, but otherwise I don't get it. - Nucker101
So is this just city or whole province? In from Ontario. We didn't have an NHL team till the league expanded to Ottawa. So (frank) you guys |
