Yes it's pretty sad when Winnipeg looks like the best team in Western Canada!

I have to say I don't feel sorry for canuck fans.

Neither do I. I saw this coming the past 2 years. It happened a little bit faster than I thought it would though.

They wouldn't be this bad if they didn't get destroyed by injuries so that's why the decline seems accelerated. I'm just playing the part of tank nation fan to keep things fun.

I don't think most Canuck fans thought the Sedins would decline as quickly as they have. They don't appear to be 1st line players anymore and the teams lack of secondary scoring has been evident the past couple of years. IMO they should try and trade Kessler this year as he is their best asset to bring in a prospect or two and maybe a draft pick. They shouldn't hold on to him for too long as he will start to wear down over the next year or two as well.

Guys calm the (frank) down It's not that bad. It's an off year and you ve had some injuries. Now show some (frank)ing pride and win one for the gupper.

All losing from here on out. You won't find anyone in here who wants the Canucks to make the playoffs.

Yes you are correct in regards to injuries Nucker but I do recall many Canuck fans on Hockeybuzz at the beginning of the season saying they would be fighting San Jose and LA for top spot in the Pacific, even putting them ahead of Anaheim. We all know that would not have happened even with a healthy squad. IMO they should be looking at trading for prospects and picks while they still have some reasonable assets to move.

Who expected this kind of season from Anaheim?

I would have had Van ahead of them for sure.

I assumed that Daniel would bounce back with a 30 goal season and with a strong defense and solid goaltending that having a good top line would be good enough to finish 3rd in the Pacific. I really underrated Anaheim and had LA and SJ ahead of the Canucks. If you had told me that Daniel would struggle to score and Burrows would be battling injuries and not have a single goal then I'd definitely have them around the 9/10 spot in the West which is where they are. Injuries, top 6 scoring and the PP have been the problems. It could be a blessing in disguise if it encourages the team to move a player or 2 from the "core" for younger assets.

I also don't think any realistic Canucks fan had the Canucks winning the division..please don't quote Ian Esplen or John Garrett.

I must admit, I thought Vancouver would be a top four team in the West. Up until the end of December they were playing fairly well, although not good enough to beat the better Western teams.

Thus, I've come to the conclusion, I was wrong, they just don't have the horses to run this race. Reality has kicked in! But I'm ok with change, I just wish it would start with Mike Gillis, but that ain't happenin any time soon.

So we'll hope for a good pick this year and possibly some good trades this summer to turn things around more quickly than what your seeing from a Flames or Oilers perspective.

I think you'll really see a loss for enthusiasm and plenty of empty seats next season if changes aren't made. Aquilini probably is well aware of this as a rich business man. He'll definitely be pushing Gillis to make those moves.

It's comical how people living in BC who for whatever reason like a team from another city (i don't get that unless you have a tie to that city), hate the Canucks the most out of anyone.

I know a Hawks fan in Vancouver, he wears his Hawks jersey all the time, it's like he has to prove he's not a Canucks fan... and he's always so argumentative when it comes to talking hockey. Is it a self esteem thing for you?

Agree with this. If you have a tie to another city then it's fine, but otherwise I don't get it.

Woah woah woah......don't compare Calgary to Edmonton. The Flames have a LONG way to go before they can ever be compared to Edmonton. (although I get what your're trying to say)

If you're an older fan, I could see it. I know lots of guys in their 60's who are Leaf, Blackhawk, Canadien's or Bruin fans. Original six era...

There's also lots of transient people in BC, mostly from Ontario, so there's the Leaf connection.

Other than that it seems fashionable to some to be fans of another team, even though they're from BC, which is just stupid. There's quite a few Flames fans from the Kootney's though, they're close to Calgary, there's also a bunch of Oiler fans from the Prince George area, proximity to Edmonton I guess.

Especially given their 3 first overall picks....that sets them apart more than anything IMO.

Seems to be a sadistic backlash to years of dashed hopes or, at the very least, a mild pleasure in watching Canuck fans perpetually unfulfilled. There does seem to be an inordinate amount of haters in our own town. Pretty sad considering how good a good Canuck team is for local business.
