Smoking speeds up death. If you take 1000 smokers and 1000 non smokers see the survival rate of living past 60. You will be surprised.
It is very common for people in their 50 s to be rushed to the hospital for angina or heart attack due to blocked arteries caused by tar build up . The doctor told me one in 3 victims do not survive the ambulance ride into the hospital and one in 100 people do not survive the operation angioplasty .
That was the doctors exact words to me the night I was rushed in.
Big Macs and drinking beer also have no side affects on second hand calories and second hand hangovers. Smoking can be just as deadly with second hand smoke. - VANTEL
Exactly my point about quality of life. We all die. It's how long and how well you live that should matter. Non smokers aren't cheating death, they're just getting more out of life than smokers. Same would apply to those who eat healthy, drink in moderation VS those who crush fast food daily and drink in excess consistently.

that is easy to say looking back, forecasting is much harder. So many unpredictable things this year creating this glaring elephant in the room we have now. For all we know MG could have realized earlier the downfall but maybe wasn't prepared for the serious drop off. Just like us fans weren't. It is also very hard to make moves in todays nhl.
Maybe, just maybe, they realized we weren't going to be top tier this year but thought we would probably be in the 3 spot or so in the pacific. Trying to retool bit by bit on the fly, appease the fans some what in this mad market while slowly trying to bridge the gap with some of the prospects we have.
I do think no one was prepared for these injuries and or scoring decline though. - anavar
Not when you understand the law of diminishing returns and aging in players. Ever heard of buy low and sell high?
There was no way this team was going to finish 3rd in the Pacific. That is just gross optimism. See also the definition of FAN.
There are many on these boards that have been honest are realistic about this team over the last 2-3 years. |

Chest & Lombardi, best of luck with quitting!!! The fellow who said identify the triggers was spot on. I smoked for 25 years like it was my job. Rothman Kings, 1-2 packs a day. I drank tea instead of coffee, no weed in the house, after work beers were 2 ( when I started hankering for a smoke) instead of 5 or 6, etc. I did it cold turkey and with pure stubborness and 12 years later I am still so thankful everyday.
Best of luck fellows!! - Marwood
The hard part of breaking triggers is at work, everybody smokes here. Everywhere else shouldn't be a problem.
Thanks for the well wishes. |

Last time #Canucks faced Leafs, Edler had 12 shots on goal. Incredibly, all 12 attempts hit the net. No blocks. No misses

Just the gum and cat yelling, that's yelling at the cat not yelling like a cat. It's worked today, cat might get more abuse tomorrow but we'll see.
Edit: had to put the lighters away, I almost lit my beard on fire. - A_SteamingLombardi
I have a serious complaint about the gum. Why is it so (frank)ing expensive? If Canada Health was REALLY serious about their quit smoking campaign, the gum should be subsidised, it also as expensive as smoking!
Furthermore, I'm willing to bet that the parent company of Nicorette is a tobacco company. Just like Starbucks started Seattle's Best Coffee for people who were anti-starbucks. The gum is nicotine based, it's just another way to keep you hooked. I tried using the gum, I just got hooked on the gum. That's why this time I went with the non-nicotine method of quitting, which is probably why Canada Health promotes this method.
Edit: I'm all for yelling at the cat! ... and probably the game tonight! |

Apparent Colin Fraser is on waivers today. Does MG pick him up as a stop gap for the rest of the season as a 4th line center? |

I found the easiest way to quit was I said that I was going to quit for three weeks. The first time I quit I was always thinking I would never have a smoke after coffee or sex or with a beer. I found that stressful.
Next time I said I am quitting for three weeks come hell or high water. After that I would reevaluate . The human body takes usually three weeks to develop new habits or become accustom to new places or new jobs and even new habits. |
