Sherbrooke has a tiny airport, the runway can be extended and a small terminal can be build but who pays for it? They will say the passengers but if the traffic isn't big enough...ultimately it will be the government (Muni, Prov, Fed)

That airport would mostly be for the people around Sherbrooke(Drummondville, Victoriaville, Beauce). Obviously it wouldn't have flights for Florida(or any other popular vacation location) every day. But I think the airport could survive on smaller flights to MTL/TO/Québec/New York. The main reason though for its eventual arrivée will be economically wise. A few companies have expressed their willingness to come in the region if the city would get an airport.

I don't think the situation in Mirabel and Sherbrooke can be compared.
