It's something to watch...there's been smoke between the Flyers & Oilers since the draft. It reminds me of all the JvR/Schenn rumors in the 2011-12 season

Both teams have what each other needs. Edmonton has puck moving d-men and skilled, speedy forwards. Flyers have big, stay at-home d-men with an abundance of gritty, dig in the corner forwards. I agree if a trade goes down, it will involve multiple pieces from both sides.

No, you're right -- I'm totally surprised that they're in Newark tonight. But they've been talking for so long, both sides want something from the other

It'll be interesting to see if anything happens when the freeze ends.

Even with the cap and possible injury implications of the Olympics, I'm surprised we didn't see anything today.

I have to admit, I thought Sam Gagner was getting moved today -- you wonder if L.A. would've lost last night if that would've been the straw that broke the camel's back

It's possible...Maybe the Flyers trade for Gagner and flip him to another team? Haven't seen a good three way deal in awhile

In my opinion, Edmonton has one defenseman I'd be interested in. And I don't think they're going to move him.

The trouble is, you trade for a guy today, he sits on your cap for two weeks doing (frank) all and if it's an Olympian, and he gets hurt...

explains why there has been no movement, very quiet season for trading
also may have a little to do with the parity, close standings where no one wants to help another team in a race against them.

After the trade for Del Zotto, I thought for sure Poile would flip him for forward help, he still might, but I thought that might have been a three way.

Lost of teams still in the hunt, and a lot of teams don't have a lot of cap space to work with.

Yep, that's part of it, for sure. I mean, outside of the Islanders, who is out in the Metro? 4 points separate 2 & 7. Can't move a guy if you're the Canes or Jackets and right in the meat of the race

He still could. The Isles are basically going to hang a for sale sign on the arena. Vanek and MacDonald all but certain to be shipped out. Maybe Nabokov. Who knows, maybe they move Vishnovsky, too.

this poor franchise, can't keep anyone to build around Taveras, not surprised at all about Vanek, but MacDonald surprises me a little, I saw him getting a similar deal to Hamonic, but he wants out as well.

MacDonald reportedly shot down a 4 year, $16mm deal. He's a huge bargain, playing 5th most minutes in NHL and getting $550K

The trade for Vanek was just stupid. Moulson played well with Tavares and they were buddies. Sure, Vanek is better, but not a 1st & 2nd rounder better...plus the Sabres will flip Moulson and likely get at least another couple seconds, if not another first

It makes you wonder how much of a budget Snow has to work under. Sometimes you have to overspend, especially on players you already know. I think Wang is hoping for a financial windfall moving to Brooklyn, maybe things might change after the franchise moves.
