Richards has a no trade clause, no way he accepts to go to the Oilers.
- Rtt19

That was voided when he accepted a trade to the Kings.

Clifford is a 4th liner... on the KINGS

On Edmonton, he'd be a very nice 2nd liner who skates fast, throws the body around, and fights (albeit not very well). He is EXACTLY what the Oilers need. Toughness.

I'm not saying he's worth Gagner straight up, but lets not overrate Gagner. On the Kings, he'll be nothing more than a 3rd line Center making 4.8 million bucks with a no trade clause set to kick in.

As a Kings fan, I ask the obvious question, "why?" He's not very good at face-offs, he doesn't score a lot with Edmonton's wide open system. With Sutter's choking defensive system, the Kings will be paying 4.8 million bucks for a 25 point a year player. With a no trade clause!

Didn't Philly trade him before it kicked in?

Edit: it doesn't matter cause the Kings aren't trading him.

HEY BARRY !!! I was thinking that same thing... Clifford is absolutely of use to the pastey little Edmonton forwards... and I also agree that Gagner has no place in our line up

I hope we are just posturing for something at the trade deadline though. Gaborik???

I wish we could trade Richards without Carter getting butt-hurt and shutting down his effort. Richards is herp'n derp up and down the ice, it's painful to watch him... I don't know what his deal is but he has gotten progressively worse since the cup run. Voynov is not performing either.... Can we get R. Lee Ermey to give the kings a pregame dress down before a game one night?

Clifford is about as minimal a need for the Oilers as Gagner is for the Kings.

It's a help-neither trade.

Gagner could def be of use in LA. Depth scoring. We have zero depth scoring. He could play RW in the top 9. Then we can stop playing Lewis on the 3rd line. If the price for Gagner is Clifford, Amart and a pick. And if EDM is retaining salary. Thats a win for LA. If it involves Toff, Vey or Forbert. There isnt a deal to be made.

I'd rather throw Muzzin in than AMart...

No way dude. Muzzin has a bigger upside. There is a reason he stays in the line up.

And I think the reason is to kind of showcase him to up his trade value. Check our record with AMart in our lineup, not that it's all due to AMart, but it's pretty incredible. Muzzin has been very bad with the puck lately. Too many penalties taken, and the Muzzin-with-Doughty experiment didn't work out so well. When his confidence is low (which is more often than not) he is very indecisive with the puck, all over the ice, and that is not a good trait, especially when we want to have goodpuck moving Dmen... Let him reach his potential somewhere else...

Updated to include the fact that the Kings are now talking to the Islanders regarding MacDonald.

That record with Amart in the lineup that you are pointing to. Is our record with him in and Greene out. Think about that. I could really see either guy going. But Muzzin can play with Doughty. He showed that early in the season. His biggest issue is himself. Hes really hard on himself and has a hard time bouncing back from making mistakes.

The record was good even when they were paired together on the bottom pairing.

RE: Mac from the NYI... For who? Mac eats up a ton of TOI, wouldn't be too shabby of a pick up, but IIRC he's an UFA and wants to get PAID for years to come. Might not be an issue with the cap going up up and up... interesting.

they have to do something today or there won't be any movement for the next 20 days... and at that point there will only be 4 days to the trade deadline...

I think upper management might balk and then watch the team continue this backward slide right out of the play off picture... hate to be a Debbie Downer but it is a very real possibility.

Greene has been awful since returning from injury. Not to mention hes gotten even slower. He cant keep up. He might have some value to a team that has no defense. NYI or Edm.

Seriously? Aside from Doughty, Mitchell is the best defensive defenseman we have right now. He was slow coming back at the beginning of the year, but his play has really picked up of late. He'll never again be the Mitchell of 2012, but the guy is almost 37, he is no spring chicken.

Greene is the only one of our defensive defensemen that plays a solid physical game. That guy is mean. He takes a dumb interference penalty too often for my tastes, but we are in sore need of some stay-at-home physicality. Doughty and Muzzin both perform the Rob Blake blue-line butt-check better than anyone since Rob Blake, but Muzzin is an offense-first guy, and Doughty can't play 60 minutes/game (I wish). Voynov is a great all-around defenseman, but he's not about to run anyone through the boards.

That brings me to Regehr...he plays ok defense, especially lately, but he is so SLOOOOOOOOOOW, and for someone of his size, he doesn't throw the body around nearly enough. For someone brought in to fill Scuderi's skates, he is certainly no Rob Scuderi. He's also getting up there in age, so his ice time is gonna be in the teens every game.

Greene is mean for sure. But he is to slow now. Hes terrible. Hes not a reliable guy for us. Love him. Hes a great locker room guy. But there is a reason hes always scratched. Hes the worst defense on our team hands down. Robyn is so much better than Greene it isnt even funny.

I always say "In DL we trust" so that makes me think there would be more than just LA and EDM in this deal. LA doesn't need a center, we need a LW. EDM needs defense. A 3 way deal sending Gagner somewhere that needs a center while we get a LW and EDM gets a defenseman makes more sense than a straight Kings/Oil trade. Besides, Gagner's offensive production isn't very good and his +/- is abysmal, which doesn't fit in well with what the Kings do and what the Kings need.

Hopefully DL makes something happen sooner rather than later. This team needs a spark. These guys are dead. Brown cant catch a break.
