He'll give up a first or a second in the deal too......

PA should have never been allowed to walk. He had value and the contract he got was more than fair value imo.

I'll throw in a Sherwood 5030 to sweeten the deal

I agree UIF. How many "substantial" offers will Amac bring back? I'm a little surprised with Strome and Lee knocking on the door, that Garth is not looking for a goalie or D for Vanek?
- ses111

Four years, $4M per for a guy like A-Mac is less than he'll get as a free agent. It was a good offer by Snow. I know everybody is down in A-Mac, but I think people need a little perspective here. Let's not act as if A-Mac is Mike Mottau or Bruno Gervais. A-Mac is a solid d-man, just totally miscast as a top pair, PP QB player logging 20+ minutes per game.

David Pagnotta @TheFourthPeriod
Hearing trade talks between the Kings and Islanders have intensified. Also told NYI want to move Vanek by tmrw's roster freeze. Match?

Once again, Fourth Period doesn't always strike me as overly credible but, f*ck it...

I did see the "move him by tomorrow's roster freeze" thing in a few other credible places though. So we may have an answer by 3pm tomorrow.

edit: also, this...

Dennis Bernstein @DennisTFP
Furthering @TheFourthPeriod latest on Kings/Isles intensified talks, could be reason we haven't seen Gagner deal close

Tyler Toffoli might be an upgrade over Vanek in the long run. Kid has sick hands. Would be very disappointed if isles do trade with kings and he isn't involved

It would be awesome if Snow could work the trade to include either Martinez or Muzzin. Doubtful, maybe we'd have to throw in MacDonald to do that one. Twist my arm.

Watch Amac get injured and be WORTHLESS to anyone. Doesn't get traded and walks for more money elsewhere. Only worst case scenario is that Garth re-signs him and he's an Islander for life.

Dan wrote Garth is seeking a 1st, an NHL FORWARD(?) and a prospect for Vanek.

HEY GARTH! HOW BOUT A FUC KIN DEFENSEMAN OR GOALIE YA DUMB ARSECLOWN PIECE OF SH!T!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!

- jmo16

You aren't getting a defenseman for a rental.. Not a top 4.. You may get a dman prospect or goalie... Soooo you don't really need to yell

Idk if you'd get Tyfol. Kings seem to be really high on him. Maybe get Pearson or Nick Shore. Isles would also have to eat some of Vank's Salary or have to take a contract like Fraser or Lewis back.

Yeah but how many of those stem from him having turned the puck over moments before

I think he leads the league in blocked shots because he's always stuck in his own zone.

However my concern with letting Streit, Amac walk this year, you are now down two more d men from your playoff team and haven't replaced them. We can't expect Pulock or Reinhqrdt at 20 years old to be good yet. Vanek getting traded now leaves another hole on a team that's currently in last place. Unless Snow recoups NHL ready players for Vanek or MacDonald (which may be impossible) or makes significant moves leading up to next year, we will have another bottom 5 team on our hands . Yes Streit and Amac aren't perfect but Donovan is worse and he was supposed to step in this year and couldn't stay in the NHL

Ok, that maybe correct. Couldn't find anything on twitter about it. But common sense is that a team would not trade a 21 year old 2nd year pro, with a .5p ppg average to acquire a rental.

Haha

Truth is, he's just being overworked. I said a while back that if the isles expected him to be a top pair dman, they would have had to sign him for more than his measly 550k a year deal. Who else in the NHL makes the league minimum and plays 20 plus minutes a night, and leads the league in anything??? The isles took a bottom pair dman, who can play a role, and stuck him in the number 1/2 spot, running the PP. Im not shocked that he's not turning heads........AMAC on any other team would be a fan favorite.

THIS.

The line of him being overplayed and underpaid and cast in the wrong role is frankly insulting to anyone watching the game. You can take the stats to try and show whatever you want to see, but when I see him coughing up the puck on a stupid play 30 seconds into a game and causing a glorious scoring opportunity it's not because he's tired, and it's not because he's underpaid. It's because he can't think the game at a high speed and makes bad and lazy decisions.

He's a 6th round pick who looked like he might be a serviceable defenseman, who over the last two seasons has completely forgotten how to make a safe play or check an opposing forward.

He's a massive liability and needs to go. He's not worth more than half of what Garth offered him and I, for one, am goddamn thankful he didn't sign and will be traded.

I'm going to say this as kindly as I can, have you lost your mind?

He's playing 20 minutes a night because our GM can't make a trade for a defenseman and we lost our three top defensemen. He's on the PP ahead of Dehaan because Crappy doesn't trust rookies. He's turning the puck over far too often and when he does it in the first minute of the game you can't give me the tired excuse, or the too many minutes. When he refuses to take the body on a forward and stand near him and poke at the puck is this because he's playing 20 minutes? When he falls down in the crease trying to play goalie instead of tying up a stick is this because he's tired?

He can't think the game, he can't be hard on opposing forwards, he frequently shoots directly into someone's shins, passes the puck away to no one, picks up the wrong man defensively then does nothing to impede his progress to the net, tie up the stick or box him out, and he thinks he's now worth 5 mil per.

Give me a break, he'll be a fan favorite somewhere else for 5 minutes until he steps on the ice and turns the puck over.

don't get your hopes up. I'm expecting a pick and a wishart type prospect.
