great post!! agreed.
sometimes my opinion is considered less valid by the hb blockheads because the team I cheer for sucks so bad.
as if I had a hand in building the oilers.. - hugefemale dog77
I don't think so. No matter what team you root for, there's talking hockey and there's talking trash. I think there's a certain unspoken code between hockey fans... You can critique any team you want no matter who your favorite team is, but trash talking another team when your life long favorite team is currently a non contender or has stunk for years, you're going to get called out. Simple as that... |

called out for what?
the leafs have an incredibly mediocre defence. this fact doesn't change because Edmonton is worse.

Be interested to know who the Ducks plan on moving in order to clear enough cap space for Vanek?! And... would he be a rental only? If he were to re-sign in Anaheim they'd most likely end up tying up close to $26 million per season in just 3 players. That's a lot of eggs in one basket. What an offensive first line that would be though!!! Vanek, Getzlaf, Perry?! God help us! - MnGump
my God... Vanek in a full season easily comes close to 50 goals. I gotta say... that tops the Vanek/Tavares/Okposo line... and how those three have clicked this season, that's hard to top... |

I agree. I see it all the time here, it's what fans of idiotically managed teams fall back on when they have no defense. I mean, you'd never see me defending most of the dumb management decisions the Flames have made, and yet people somehow assume when I critique the Leafs for being idiots I'm saying the Flames are better.
Besides the fact that when you say "Well at least they're not as dumb as Edmonton or Calgary", that's, uh, not saying much. |

Have people checked out Garth's blog lately? It's utterly hilarious, some of the most ludicrous homerism I've ever seen. His latest speculates that the Sabres could get "3 of 4" of Zibenejad, Ceci, Lehner, and Puempel for Moulson. |

People must realize that even tho vanek may be a rental... he's the type of player that puts a cup contending team over the top. the team getting him is going to have to give up a tough piece of their team that fans at first might find it hard to swallow. but once you realize what vanek can do for your team looking to win the cup... rental or not... it's worth it. I really do think perfect trading partners are the kings and ducks... between the goalies and defenseman out there it really does match up... but sometimes that random team jumps in to make the trade deadline get that wow factor...
my random team that jumps into the Vanek sweepstakes is the Columbus Blue Jackets, especially with Gaborik going down... I really think that organization is DIEING to make the playoffs after missing out by a game or so last season... |

On the other hand they already gave up some decent assets to get Gaborik last year and I'm not sure they'd be too keen to do it again for a guy who will probably walk. I mean they've done pretty well without Gaborik anyway, Vanek would be no more a guarantee of making it than Gaborik was last year.
Granted they do have a decent prospect pool. |

Happy for you! But I didn't say he wasn't allowed an opinion. Just kind of silly to try to tear down a team that has been pretty damn successful for the better part of the last decade when your supposed favorite team is about as mediocre as they come. - MnGump
Because it's as if he is the owner of the "poopty team" and had everything to do with its pooptiness!
But I love your fallacies of argumentation. Keep them coming |

Not disagreeing with u at all. like I said... sometimes I feel like there's always that one random team that no one ever reports on being active shoppers... this is just my wild card guess... kings are ducks obviously fit the bill |

They are saying that's a possibility.
Which would be completely dumb on the Kings part to go after another center who doesn't score much and is a defensive liability. |

Dude ... big difference between Kunitz and Gagner. One is an Olympian and a very good player while the other one is an underachiever who won't amount to anything of note. There is nothing I said that is wrong about Gagner. 80% of his points come in a two-week period and then he plays a Houdini act and isn't heard from again.
We agree on your final comment. He doesn't help the Kings. - Oneonta Penguin
I'm obviously not comparing Kunitz directly to Gagner. The point is, surely there are people who talk about Kunitz in such a way that makes it evident they rarely watch him play, and I wonder whether you're in control of how you're coming off about Gagner.
Also, since you're posturing yourself as if you're telling me facts, there's tons wrong with an assertion that he gets 80% of his points in a two-week period, and that's pretty easily proved false. Let alone the idea that players can have good games without scoring a point. |

Id guess most owners would say this. They make no monetary gains from the olympics and risk the health of their players, which could ultimately hurt their bottom line.
Theyre entitled to those feelings, but u wont see me crying much for snider if voracek gets hurt in the olympics.
It's exciting for us fans to get a chance to watch all the very elite gsther to compete for national pride
Fuk the owners
