I thought Severson was smaller.. 6'2 210lbs on the Albany site. AND with the big numbers he's having.. he's hard to let go of. Maybe moving Merrill over him is a better option?

Marty has started 28 games. 27 decissions 13-11-4. 2.52 GAA & .899 Sv%. An .899 Sv% is abysmal & last season he wasn't much better .901Sv%.

Hey Marty for me was the best goalie ever. The key word here was. It's time to move on. That's the business of hockey. If Marty can't accept his role then move him now & get a 2nd round pick or a top 9 forward that can help.

I'm not doubting Cory being better by any means. But if you simply think Marty is the reason for all his losses your overestimating the team in front of him. He can still win games in the NHL. There are probably say 6-7 losses on him in there and the rest on the team. We just simply aren't very good. Cory not having more wins is the biggest example of us not being good. The guy has played well enough to win just about all his games.

Schneiders Sv% is .925.

For goalies that have had at least 25 starts, essentially 1/2 there respective teams starts to date this season only Bishop, Rask & Harding have better Sv%'s. Bernier is tied & Varlamov is just a notch below at .924. Price .923.

You can't tell me if Schneider had started 46 games like Price, 45 games like Varlamov, 42 like Rask, Bishop or Bernier that NJ wouldn't have won at the very least a couple more games, if not 1/2 a dozen.

Be like 3 more wins at best we still do not score. Fact remains Schneider has had 30 starts only has 10 wins and could of won almost all of those 19 losses. He always plays well enough to win we just suck. I feel for the guy cause if we could help him at all he would probably be getting Vezina talk.

No I didn't at any point put the blame squarely on Brodeur. There's enough to go around for the players, Lou & especially DeBoer. Injuries have also played a factor.

Agreed.

As Phil Espisito loves to say. "You can't score if you don't shoot & hit the net." NJ is last in the NHL in shots on net.

It's primarily 3 issue's as all teams sustain injuries, the 4th issue of 5 that has been a significant factor in NJ winning games. It's a systems issue. NJ plays a passive defensive system which capitilizes on the other team making a mistake to generate scoring chances, as opposed to driving the offence. They can't win a face off to save their lives. Zajac is the only player with over a 50% winning % so they rarely get the puck off the face off & the lack of team speed doesn't generate as many chances off the rush.

If DeBoer would just let them open it up even a little that would help generate some offense. Hopefully with out sacrificing success on the defensive side of the puck.

Be nice to have Gelly and Larsson playing too they can actually make a breakout pass. Not only do we not hit the net we do not drive it enough. Have to crash and set more screens but I guess we are asking for too much.

Without a better playing coming back to NJ, no way should a 1st round pick be going to Calgary with Cammalleri being the return.

He's in no way worth next years 1st, and since NJ doesnt have one this year, it would be apocalytic & retarded, as Todd pointed out in a more PC tone.

Anyone who thinks Cammalleri is worth a 1st, let a lone a 1st for a team that doesnt have one this season, should quit the internets.

NJ already has one jello-head contract in Clowe, they don't need another.

Getting Kovy's contract off the books was a blessing, but not if we (frank) it up by signing a line of jello-heads who are out for months every season.

Get the real deal or gtfo.

I'm not sure we want Gelinas, Merrill & Larsson all playing at the same time today. That's a ton of youth. We have to wait & see what Lou's plan is after the Olympics. Merrill might be elligable to be sent down as he probably isn't close to the 83 day cut off. Gelinas was & Larsson would have been had they not sent him down right after his return from injury.

Hopefully after the break Gelinas gets to play & help NJ generate some offense. Time will tell.

Ideally Clowe & Ryder should be able to play that role. Mucking it up in front of the net screening shots banging in the garbage. None of the other wingers play that style. Zubrus is a big body & hits people but not punishingly so, he's just never been the sum of his parts. The remaining players don't play that game.

mike cammalleri for larsson, joefson and tedenby. 1 canadian for 3 swedes, seems like an even exchange. truly i would treade larsson for cammalleri, larsson won't ever be anything more than a 6th defenseman. the other two, we couldn't get calgary's third string water boy for those stiffs.

Rather lose with them all in than watching Sal, Volch, and Harold continue to play. Can't be much worse

Larsson just turned 21 in November & has 122 games of NHL experience. Probably to many games played in the NHL already as he should have been logging huge minutes learning the NHL game in the minors from the get go.

Way to early to write of this asset. No way you give him up for a rental. You show some patience. Very few top 5 picks have washed on in the NHL over the last decade.

As for Tedenby, we couldn't give him away for free. He was waived & everyone passed.

Not sure about Josefeson. Young as well but I didn't like that pick when NJ made it & like it less now. Young but may have beeen rushed & lost his confidence permanently. Injuires haven't helped.

i mean it's nice having a million good defensive prospects but who is going to score goals on this team? Can't keep putting 12 ham sandwiches out there playing forward and expect to score.

First off, I don't believe any of it because Lou wouldn't let a deal like this leak into the public.

On the other hand, Merill has been getting considerable ice time. Not much to show, but he is getting more comfortable and I could see his value increase for a trade in the future.

Let's not let young talent slip out of our fingers for Cam. I'd rather miss the playoffs this year.

Agree completely. Need to go through some tough times in a rebuild, and while it may only be a partial rebuild, the one thing NJ needs is FW prospects. But even though we're deep on D prospects, we shouldn't just throw them away recklessly on (frank)ing Cammalleri of all people.

Sometimes the best move, is no move.
