exactly. i wouldnt question the path that lead to where you guys currently are with him too much. hes given a large enough sample size for me to believe you have a long term starter in him. now if you guys ever actually made the move for the defender (i know you cant force whats not there, but still, you have the assets), you guys would have me really worried

Yeah...Well, who knows? Apparently, the Isles are looking to move MacDonald now, I'd definitely be interested there. Plays a ton of minutes, good skater, OK with the puck, solid two way guy.

Any word on Letang? I saw Rob Rossi report he's got an unnamed illness and could be out awhile. Hope everything's OK there.

It's definitely a better run organization now. They didn't give him a lot of help. Hard to complain about Mason as a Flyer. 50+ games, .922 save %...he's been good.

Ah, it just bugs me when I read things about Mason written without context.

He hasn't been perfect, but I can say that he does battle, every night. Tonight's game was a good example.

Being engaged with the game and the team was my biggest Bryz problem. Players regularly talk of being bailed out by Mase. If they did it last year, it was likely accompanied with an eye roll and wanking motion in talking about Bryz.

andy mcdonald seems like a decent enough player, and would improve pretty much any d group, but i dont see him as a game changer.

and honestly its so weird. living in philly, im not as exposed to as many of the beat writers besides whiat i see and hear online, but the whole situation seems odd. just out with an illness, yet seems vibrant during games when shown in the pressbox. no other details given. the whole thing just strikes me as very odd, and there is definitely something up. i hope for his sake it isnt something serious that transcends hockey into legitimate health concerns.

random people that gripe about mason simply arent watching enough games. one, his stats arent bad by any means. and two, i know i say you cant simply look at stats for a lot of things, but it could not be any more applicable than to goalies.

Some of those Columbus teams were simply awful and poorly constructed.

It just feels like some "goalie blame" culture Flyers fans have done.

And I watch Mason do his thing and he seems to really attack the puck and make the basic saves well. He looks legit and yet, for some media, he can't shake his Columbus stink.

Meanwhile, Sergei Bobrovsky, a backup, gets blown for every little thing but gets no blame when they lose. I like Bob, I have no reason to want to see him fail, but it just feels like a silly double standard.

yeah its definitely frustrating. the best i can say is let the past be the past. you guys acquired a damn good starting goalie for relative peanuts. the same can be said for columbus with bob. both likely dont reach these levels without the fresh starts. the columbus team now, despite not having nash, is actually a much more competitive and well rounded one than the squad young mason was essentially told to carry.

I get FSNWest here in Vegas so i catch them pretty often.

Richie just seems slow and worn out sometimes... Carter gets 19 minutes a game while Richards gets 17.

I have Ctr Ice and catch a good amount of games from, well, a lot of teams, including LA (Flyers West). From what I can see, Richards seems less apt to engage physically than he used to...I recall I felt that his game was eroding before the trade. He seemed to be struggling with the captaincy and just not the player he was in years prior...I speculated at the time that he had a growing injury history and a lot of wear and tear on his body and that his production was waning... and he likely will never see those earlier point totals again...he's nearing 30 years old (he'll be 29 next week)...that contract at 5.75 mil/yr running through 2020 isn't looking to good imo. I'm quite a bit happier to have guys with their prime in front of them like Simmer and BSchenn instead of a declining Mike Richards.

Roo got hosed by team Canada. Sadly for me and Penguin fans, he'll come back from the break with a huge chip on his shoulder.

Enjoy your Olympics. I see Pens V Flyers happening again when it counts.

Kind of strange, I think they know what it is and want the family to know and start dealing with it. Speculation is rampant, but I guess they will release the news tomorrow.

Originally, I thought Canada may have wanted Giroux as a guy to run the 2nd PP unit, as he's been pretty good at it the last 2 years. Maybe play 4th line wing but get PP time.

Obviously they had other ideas in the end

See, the thing is, Mason being good at hockey goes against a ton of writer narratives.

Right, Ryan Lambert?

He only plays a ton of minutes because their defensive depth is so poor. He's only skilled enough to be a #4 guy, but he wants $5m a year.

That post was awful. Never heard of Lambert, kind of wish it stayed that way now.

Plus he will be an UFA.

I just can't see giving up any assets right now for rental players.

Supposedly turned down multiple yr deal at 4M per year as well.
