To be fair you are going to be a career minus player playing on Edmonton for your entire career - xShoot4WarAmpsx
True, and -30 of that came in the last 3 years.
and also plus/minus sucks |

I wouldn't consider that even remotely true, and I'm someone who watches him tons. Frankly, that sounds like the exact sort of impression you'd get from NOT watching him playing and looking up stats. - Morris
I have heard a few Oiler fans say it and saying his play in his own end is horrible which is a HUGE issue if you play on the Kings. Not saying he isn't talented, but for the Kings system he wouldn't do so well. Again, I am going off what I have read from other Oilers fans, so if your fan base is split on him then I don't know what to tell you. I still wouldn't want him on the Kings in giving up assets for him and taking on that salary.

MSL or Giroux deserve it IMO. Personally I would have had both over Kunitz. |

CBC hotstove mentioned Eric Staal as the front runner and that Giroux wasn't even in the conversation.
I really hope they're wrong and give it to Giroux. |

Most feel that Martin and Giroux should have been there over Marleau and Carter.
Someone on Sportsnet voted for Lucic of all people.
I have a feeling you'll end up seeing Neal... |

Which would boil down to jvr for hemsky, which is just a depressing thought. - Girouxsalem90
No-where did Spector every say Schenn for Hemsky. He was just speculating that L.Schenn might do well with a change. And, that EDM has a gap in Defense that Luke might fill.
In a completely different paragraph, Spector mentions EDM maybe active at Trade deadline, and they have 4 players that might be available; Hemsky, Jones, Schultz, and Potter.
Schenn for Hemsky is pure speculation of speculation... The Flyers needs are defense. I could see defense for defense trade, with minor prospects and picks to balance. |

Should be Giroux or Neal IMO. When you lose a sniper you have to replace him with one.
I'd love for St. Louis to represent Canada but the focus should be on finding a player to replace what Stamkos would bring. |

Why does PHI need Cap relief next year?
The Cap is moving up (capgeek) from 64M to 71M
Pronger will still be on LTIR, so salary isn't on the books.
Timonen is UFA, and likely to retire - adds another 6M to the books. They may work out a one year deal at a lower amount.
Mezaros is UFA, they may not resign him - despite some good play of late - adds another 4M to the books.
Downie is UFA, and hasn't been playing well. - that's another 2.6M.
Add Gill to the not returning list, another 0.7M
Sign Emery or get a cheaper backup.
Other needed UFA/RFA - Cost will go up slightly with Raffl, Hall, Gustafsson.
The only big name that deserves a bigger bump in salary is B.Schenn. But, that won't be an arm and a leg.
All the other big names and corp players are sign through next year.
A few good prospects might make the team next year to fill some gaps. ie. low cost.
I don't see a single reason why they need cap relief.
If anything the Flyers are buyers, if and when the right opportunity strikes. Timo's replacement or any upgrade to the defense is critical. The opportunity may occur this year or over the summer. Homer will only trade for a winger it he thinks it will better the team or maybe for a shake up (if needed), but a trade for a winger is not dire. - leon neon
They will have approximately 17.5M in cap space [including pronger off the books] to sign 8 guys for an average of approximately 2.2M per roster spot

lucic - makes sense for a hard nosed power play guy... but tbh if your there to be a grinder id rather someone more two way player
st louis - would add some needed speed for russia and other skill oriented teams
staal - big guy with skill but another centre, do we need a centre? |
|

If we have an all Penguins 1st line - Sabresfan-365
Neal - Crosby - Kunitz could realistically be the best line in the tournament.
Then again, any of Canada's 4 lines could be. |

I thought I heard that Stevie went with Marleau and Carter due to their size versus Martin and Giroux. Stevie thought their size/reach may be better on the bigger rink.

I'll throw an out of the box name in here. I'd like to see Tyler Seguin on the team as a replacement. |

I just find it amazing when scouting the Sharks they chose Marleau over Couture. |

Agreed. I had him on my fantasy Team Canada, but I think it's an unrealistic pick. His speed and skill would be unbelievable on the big ice (proven during the lockout year) but he's just too green and has that party boy reputation on him. |

Neal is a fine player but there are multiple better options, g, Taylor Hall, jumbo joe, and Eric staal would all make the team over Neal I believe |

Fair point.
As for the Marleau over Couture thing. I think his skating ability (or lacke thereof) did him in. Marleau's combination of size and speed was probably something Canada really wanted. |

Claude Julien and Peter Chiarelli's heads will explode if that happens
No chance he makes it with those two there, especially Chiarelli being in on the decision process.: |

I had him on my team. Great scoring touch, decent at FO's and great defensive play.
