I don't think the NHL will be comfortable sending players to Korea, who has 2022? |

At least with Stammer out the tournament should now be somewhat competitive

He would push Blowsack and North Tower down the line up - Iggysbff
Bozak is better than Gagner defensively, and comparable offensively. 6 more points in 10 less games. Bozak has made huge strides this year. Gagner has no place in Tdot. |

More likely that they stop going just because of money. The biggest impediment to the Sochi agreement was the owners - they're never pleased at having to pay guys through the Olympics and not getting anything for the break. They might use the location as an excuse but that will be the real reason.
Come to think of it, it's probably not a coincidence that they decided to up the outdoor games to 6 (which even the NHL now admits was excessive) in an Olympic year. |

Question for TBAY fans:
Are you at all concerned that St. Louis may get passed over for team Canada TWICE in the matter of a month by his GM?
(Serious question... i.e- not trolling) |

Marty's career shooting percentage is 13.6%
Giroux's is 11.9%
Your arguments aren't holding weight here. - jtommyt
True, but look at the roles these guys play and the line mates. Marty has had better line-mates, and his main role was to score goals. Giroux role is quarterback/playmaker. It's close, but Giroux is a better all around player. And, at those percentages neither one will miss an open net. |

Giroux is probably the best all around of the four but the question is who fills the role on crosbys right side best ... It has to be St. Louis or Neil. ... St. Louis being the better player ... But Neil being a true sniper that showed great chemistry and production earlier this year playing on a line with Kunitz -Crosby ... That's hard to ignore because it's not potential, but instant chemistry .... Kunitz Crosby Neil could easily be the best line in the tournement ... That being said I think it will be St. Louis ... Ps giroux and St. Louis should both have made the initial roster ( minus Nash and Marleau) |

A couple weeks ago on HNIC, I believe it was Friedman that said the Canadian brass already had selected a "taxi squad" if any was injured prior to the Olympics. Of the 4 forwards he mentioned, Giroux was not one.
The 4 forwards were;
St.Louis
E.Staal
Neal
Hall
Goalie was Crawford
The 3 defensemen were:
Seabrook
M.Staal
Can't remember the 3rd one, but I think it was Giordano.
Whether they select outside of what Friedman reported.....I guess we will see. - flipneil
I know Schwartz was on that list at least according to Hitchcock.

yes - RileyB77
I could certainly see him having some issues if he is passed over a second time. The politics of the situation make me question whether a current GM should try to shoulder the burden of picking a national team as well. When Gretzky GM'ed he was not tied to a team in that manner. (Think he coached the Coyotes afterwards)
Could snubbing a guy from your own team come back to bite you in the a$$ by way of not re-signing or demanding a trade? We'll see.
In the end I would have to think that Stevie Y will take St.Louis this go round... especially with the way he played since the first snub. |
