"While I personally find it rather difficult for someone to state or prove that one player on a team of 18 could be single handedly responsible for influencing a teams record(outside of a franchise player), the above numbers are certainly not painting a pretty picture."

I agree with what you say here, and Clarkson is not a franchise player, but the problem is he is getting paid franchise player money. We're he to have a Kulemin-type contract there would probably be no hate towards him.

Going forward 5 million will not be franchise money.

5 million right now gets you Jason Pominville.

For franchise money I think we're talking 6.5 and up...

Lived in the states almost 20 years and never heard it measured in cms...
- SolidGoldBricks

Yup - was on a conf call earlier this week with a co. in DC, mentioned snow in CM and they asked us to translate that into inches like Canada is the only country in the world that uses a different system of measurement.

5.25 isn't franchise money any more, or they could have saved a lot on the Kessel and Phaneuf contracts. It's definitely top 6 money though, which is why they should play him in the top 6!

Yes, indeed they are.

That's why I find it kind of ironic that we knew how to translate CM to Inches, Celsius to Fahrenheit, etc., but they didn't.

so they wait til its so bad they shut the busses down and then send everyone home?

i take it no one there relies on busses to get home?
