No, no at all You actually need both of those numbers just to calculate the %.

right...sigh....you guys are missing the point. A less confident player will likely take shots from the perimeter versus making the extra move or skate to get in closer and increase the quality of the shot. That said, this applies to Kulemin because, not only is he not shooting often, his shots are generally from weaker scoring areas which will affect his shooting percentage.

Simply put, hes not shooting that much and when he does they arent great shots. A bit of confidence may lead him to break in deeper/closer and increase his odds of scoring.

yeah, it is quite comical....but then again, Im sure none of them have experience driving in snow, or have snow tires for that matter. So it does make it tricky.

This I agree with. Getting closer to the net, increases the chances of scoring, Got it.

To be honest, I had never heard of snow tires before I came to Canada... I had seen my whole country shut down due to an inch of snow however

he might have less total shots..but it has nothing to do with his sh%
he is actually 15.7 this season.. which is above his career avg 12.3

sh% is fairly random thing and cant be controlled.
Kule has had 6.5, 9.7 and 15.7 the past 3 season including this one

Here are the Leafs current leaders in shooting % (shots, goals, percentage)

3 Dave Bolland TOR C 27 6 22.2
4 Trevor Smith TOR C 22 4 18.2
5 Peter Holland TOR C 31 5 16.1
6 Nikolai Kulemin TOR L 51 8 15.7

We see the cancellations from that area, with the TV feed we get. It went on for hours... Why not just say, everything is friggin cancelled, stay home. And, then show a bunch of car crashes in the snow, to remind them to stay off the roads.

If you are not a good driver, and don't have the proper tires on your car, stay home.

A friend's little sister grew up in Poplar Hill, and now lives in Seatle area. A few months ago they got a few cm of snow, she posted on FB what a joke it was that the area was shut down.

A few hours later, her husband posted on FB that with her Canadian Pride she jumped in her car to go, then proceeded to get stuck just up the street, when her car could not make it up a little hill.

My guess is that many cars in the States don't even have all season tires. likely run on mostly summer tires to last longer in the heat. then when snow hits, and there is no salt/sand put down, and the tires are hard rubber, they get into trouble fast.

Right...so a more confident Kulemin affects his shooting % because he should, in theory, take more shots and hopefully from better scoring areas.

in fairness, I work with Americans, and over a conference call this morning one said "boy we got really dumped on last night...nearly 10cms of snow!!"

I chuckled.

Why were they saying cms?

He should always take his shots from a good scoring area however. This would drastically improve his shooting %.

And, if he sot more, he would score more I see a pattern here.. OMG

I don't know anyone who actually thought he was going to bag 30 goals, but he still has to produce at some level to be paid more than most of the other big producers on the team... That said he hasn't brought much by way of the "intangibles" either... Hopefully he figures it out before the playoffs...
