I know. We need to hire the guy who dealt with Deveraux after he cost us the 5th overall to take Clarkson out as well. - Feeling Glucky?
You and Nips may need to venture down a different path. You have your "without Clarkson" ritual down pat...now you need to create a "with Clarkson in the line up" ritual. Simple as that. |

Leafs need to keep Kulemin .. or try to renegotiate Clarksons deal so he is paid properly..so we can keep kuli.
so basically see you later kuli..which is a shame..he is the best the leafs have for his role - senstroll
Look at his shooting %. I think he lacks confidence. Playing with Malkin MAY reignite his scoring touch then there really is no way we can keep him.. Actually I wouldn't mind Lupul/kadi/kuli (if he starts scoring again) |

makes me shake my head
for instance.. it snows in SW ontario at least once every year after dad's birthday.. always holds true.. even if its just a dusting at night that melts when it hits the ground
dad's b-day is april 9th.. good ol bruce sr. - Dozzer
Yup.
On the other hand, I find it best to avoid conversations about weather due being told I was an idiot for saying "I wouldn't want to live in Vancouver because of the rain". The fact that there's a spell of a few weeks where Van doesn't get much rain but Edmonton has some makes my statement invalid... |

I dont see any correlation between confidence and sh%
Kulemin is a 15 goals scorer..thats what you will get from him on offence. its his D where he is more valuable. but he can fill on on 2nd line wing and produce also or be a 3rd checker. very nice players to have
edit:
I know people dont care..but the leafs got killed last night in regards to corsi. Kulemin was the only player over 50% ...nobody else was close |

I'm a huge leafs fan and I would have to say that I do like/appreciate David Clarkson's game. But what a lot of people don't realize is that he was playing along side of kovalchuk when he had success and we don't have him, we have kessel who plays with bozak and van riemsdyk ( which I would like to add they mesh well and probably will not be broken up). So now what you have is Clarkson making $5.25 mill on the third line and If Bolland was healthy all year adding $3.375 mill. So about $8.6 mill for two guys on the third line. That is way too much for two guys on the third line. I don't believe that Clarkson will ever have the break out season that he had playing with kovalchuk even if u were to put him on the top line with kessel and bozak. So we pay him for experience and leadership. But after reading this blog it doesn't surprise me that the leafs don't do that well in games with Clarkson playing. So then I say what leadership?? That record show disconnection between leafs whenever Clarkson is in the lineup. I don't hate the guy but I love the leafs and I want to see success night in and night out like Detroit in the late 90's.
Personally I might be getting out of hand here but recently all I have been hearing is how the rangers want to trade a guy like Ryan Callahan. Do you know what Ryan Callahan is to the rangers. He is like their heart and soul everything a team in their right mind would want. And I'm stunned a guy like that can even be on the freaking market. So knowing Callahan is a great player that loves to throw his body around ranging in 250 hits a year and can still play the game of hockey scoring points; why don't just get him for Clarkson. Straight trade but only if they work out terms for his new contract before the trade happens. Callahan would be a great fit to the leafs and we would have him playing the second line along side kadri and lup's. now that would be amazing. Callahan would be our next Wendel Clark. Even tho you can't replace Clark. |

Well, with a lack of confidence often comes less offensive rushes/shots which will affect your shooting percentage. He's either dumping the puck or throwing it on net rather than going for the extra skate/higher scoring chance...you can see that hes being a little overly cautious with the puck...not always a bad thing, but it would be nice for him to have a better balance between the two. |

Thing is, Clarkson and Kadri could be a dangerous combo if they gelled.

he might have less total shots..but it has nothing to do with his sh%
he is actually 15.7 this season.. which is above his career avg 12.3
sh% is fairly random thing and cant be controlled.
Kule has had 6.5, 9.7 and 15.7 the past 3 season including this one |

They'd have to ungel their asses from the ice first. Those two are constantly flopping.
Last night, Clarkson get held onto pretty good for what I thought was a pretty obvious holding call. I bet he didn't get the benefit of the doubt because he spent the entire faceoff before that play chirping in the refs ear.
Clarkson needs to play his game and shut his (frank)ing mouth sometimes.
Kadri needs to get a bit more edge back in his game. |

greater number of shots allows for a more accurate assessment and shooting percentage no?
5 goals 20 shots vs 5 goals 30 shots....
If hes not as confident as he once was, his shot totals will fluctuate as will his shooting percentage. Youll find shots from the outside perimeter vs shots in higher scoring chances etc. Last night he threw a couple shots on net from around the blueline rather than skating in deeper and creating a better offensive rush. |

in fairness, I work with Americans, and over a conference call this morning one said "boy we got really dumped on last night...nearly 10cms of snow!!"
I chuckled. |
