Good morning! I see I missed a lots of hockey talk...
Just my 2ct:
I would take Quatar out of the medal race. Heard they lost their top scorer and best goaltender to injuries so it will be hard for them to win another medal at the olympic hockey tournament. |

Shows what you know about Olumpic hockey: Toews and Sharp are going to play for both the Canadian AND the Qatarian team.

Did people know cheer the anthem reads our board and posts pictures of comments and stuff? Skip to 23:15 if you want to hear something about our resident CC hater. - rollpards19
Well, to be fair, it wasn't the smartest post….
Wouldn't get too riled up over it. It's not like CTA is full of intellects and Hockey professionals. "person who posts on a Hockey Blog" already has so many negative connotations that prioritizing one blog's posters over another seems silly to me.

NHL stats - how does anybody put much credence in any of them?
They are kept by hometown amateurs mostly and things like SOG and Hits are frequently slanted to that hometown team, making them quite irrelevant.
The Kings probably outhit the Hawks on the official game sheet by 3-1 last night. But there is no official stat to show how much faster the Hawks are than the Kings which is the main reason why they beat them most of the time.
Got to watch the games. The boxscore can be interesting but doesn't tell the story most of the time. - RickJ
Great post. Gotta watch the games |

Eli...can you give us your thoughts on Danault? Not long ago he was touted as a can't miss prospect for our bottom 6. But all season long there's been next to no news on the guy and his offensive numbers haven't been that good. I know it's his first pro year so I'm not expecting him to be a super star. But there seems to be a drop off from what was expected to what he's doing now. I'm not trying to suggest he's not developing or playing well enough, I just haven't heard that much about him. |

My buddy from XM Paul Shaheen always charts the faceoffs himself..
Interesting as trying to decide the winner is not so clear cut many times.
Last night I brought up Toews getting smoked at the Dot through 2 periods....He had lost 15 of 17.
Kitchen mentioned between the 2nd and 3rd period the coaches had a talk with the linesmen....They felt the Kings were cheating and not caught...I'm sure they were as the Hawks video man watches that stuff.
But the stats were what they were and even if Toews didn't actually lose 15 of 17 he was much worse than usual.
The Kings pound away, but the Blackhawks pounded but don't wilt, and win 5-3.On The Blackhawks: Fox Chicago:

Yes, Toews had a Bolland like performance in the circle on Monday night. I noticed the linesman seemed to take an extra long time to drop the puck on many faceoffs that night so something must have been going on.
As far as I'm concerned, the winner of the faceoff is the team that gets possession of the puck. More times than not that involves multiple players on both teams, not just the 2 guys in the circle. |

I think when Johnny went sliding into the net in San Jose, he jammed up his shoulder pretty good. You rarely see him get smoked like that on the draw. |

I need some help here...
I had a pair of Tacks for decades. I decided to buy new skates recently and went with the vapors....problem is it's been a royal pain to break these things in. I can't recall the tacks taking this long...Anyone have any tips? Either I am getting very old, or I'm turning into a big...ussy. Probably both. |

I had the same question about Danault as well. I haven't seen him play so I can't comment on that but I believe he has been hurt for part of the season. |

Get skate guards, put your skates on, put your feet in a tub full of hot water for 5 minutes, spend the next few hours in front of your TV until the skates dry. That's how I used to break skates in. But I too am using a pair of ollder Tacks
The retailer can 'heat' the skates with your feet on them which does what I used to do with the water. I understand from a friend that the Vapours are a very narrow fit and can cause issues with some people. |

He was having trouble prior to that. If you remember in December Patrick Sharp was taking allot of draws for Toews. |

I may be one too, but the solution is to give the RBKs a fair look. They are like slippers when you put them on and break in is seamless. If I were younger skating 3 or 4 times a week, sure fight the battle with Vapors and high end traditionals, but for 1 or 2 days a week, with limited break in...go RBK all day. |

That's also similar to the best way to break in a baseball glove in....Put in a bucket and soak overnight then....
Put balls in the pocked and tie shut...allow to air dry which takes awhile... then condition and it is like it was used for a year. |

No...I just watched the you tube video on that. I am going to try that tonight. I hope that works.
I don't know what is worse.....breaking in these skates or the sticker shock I had when I picked up a composite stick? $250????? |
