I think he got great value for Higgins and Burrows. Burrows was a 20+ goal scorer on 2mil sal. This is deserved raise. The NTC to both Higgins and Borrows is what boggles my mind. Way to handcuff yourself by giving NTC to a 3rd line winger.

The sad part is I see a desperation move by Gillis. Lack and 2nd to Buff for Moulson or to Isles for Vanek.

The reason both those guys took less money (burrows and higgins) was because of the NTC. That was the big selling point from MG. Take less to be part of this team and in return I will give you a NTC. At the time we all were loving it. Saying we have all these guys on great contracts............

Burrows is having a really bad year. maybe it is injuries, Luck, Confidence, or coaching. But if he was producing last year at this deal it would be a great value. We are judging this on a very small sample size. If he rebounds and starts scoring again nobody will be on his case. He brings a lot of intangibles to the team. The NTC part is my main concern. I don't think Burrows would have gotten that same money on open market. Everyone knows the Sedin factor. Look at Anson Carter, Bernier. At most Burrows and Higgins would have gotten the same that they have now then why the NTC?

I think Higgins is worth the money, but agree with you on Burrows. Hindsight….if he didn't have two major injuries and currently had 15-20 goals, I'd be ok with his deal.

Maybe because it's only been one season, and a very short one at that, where his injuries have clearly affected his abilities.

That and the fact that he's probably the hardest worker on the team and contributes in so many other areas other than scoring.

Has he produced enough offense to warrant his contract yet?

No. But his offense is bound to improve.

Comparing him to Booth overall as a player is ridiculous.

I think if you can get either one of those two would be a great investment for the Canuck. With both being ufa I don't think you ll have to give up lack for either.

This is going to be a debacle.

There are a few ways to build a Championship team, Mike Gillis needs to pick one, because this bus has left the building.

Boston's leading scorer has 46 points, next closest is 40 and it trails off from there. TEAM first concept. Pittsburgh is the total opposite, 75 point player, two 50+ point players, two 40 point players etc etc…all offence.
