Just wondering, would they have given Henrik any sort of cortisone shots or something to freeze or numb the area around his ribs? He played over 20 minutes and didn't look too comfortable.

Still don't understand why they put him through that. It would be interesting if he goes to the Olympics and team Sweden decides he is not well enough to play.

- hillbillydeluxe

He needs time off. I bet he played because he wanted to help the team. I don't think he can right now. I would bet Dan is hurting to a certain degree as well.

IMO other than all the NTC signings the state of this team is not entirely Gillis fault. Year in year out he as tried to put forth the winning on ice product. Now it is catching up with him yes but he iced a team that took it to a Game 7. Not only that 2 Presidents trophies. These are not things to be balked at. He has hired people specifically to help with fatigue and made the Vancouver organization a place where players want to play. As I said with Torts, Gillis can''t play for them things are only going well for a few players right now. There are injuries illnesses ect. I hate to keep defending the guy but for me the positives out weigh the negatives. He deserves until September to right the ship. To many factors to deal with in one post so I will leave it here. Bring on the hate.

I've already brought it on. I'm over it now.

I will say this though: the dramatic and rapid decline of this team likely only few people could have seen coming. Declining? Sure. This quickly? No way.

I recall a quote by a legendary Dutch soccer player and manager Johan Cruyff. To paraphrase: every great team has 4-5 years of road together after which they need an overhaul.

The Nucks have been one of the best in league over the past 4-5 years but that time has passed. To hug onto memories is to doom the future.

Henrik should sit out, (frank) the Olympics...Aquilini is the man paying you millions.
- Nucker101

I have a feeling that they'll have a good tournament in Sochi. When they come back they might be able to sustain offensive production, but if they don't people will be questioning them.

I don't think Stamkos should be going either. Hope he does well if he does go. I would expect a little rust and timing issues for Stamkos- how can you turn it on a 100% coming off that injury?

None of it makes any sense to me.

I know changes need to be made but I also think Gillis does as well. If he can swallow his pride. He will make past september. If not he deserves to be gone.

This team is only a few VERY HARD decisions away from starting the healing process, but I don't know if the environment is going to support them. Just as much as our competitors want to get better, they don't want us getting any better too. I feel like maybe it is to hard to pull off deals, and that Gillis might just have to make deals that he doesn't like just so this team can begin a new phase.

Difference is Hank already has a gold medal, Stamkos doesn't. This could be a once in a lifetime opportunity for him. Chances are the NHL won't be sending their players to Korea.

Hell yes. Truth be told it's actually a fictional rendition of my own auto-biography during our 2 month SCF run. The ending was the same unfortunately.

Yzerman is in a bad position. Stamkos gets a game in on Saturday, he is okay to play, so why not play in the Olympics? I don't think it is the same thing, If he is only 90%, I'd rather someone else step up who is 100% and in game shape.

It would be disappointing for Stamkos not to go, but oh well, we are in it for gold. But like I said before, if he does go I would rather be proven wrong and him score the golden goal this time around.

Sleep doctors....lol

Do you have any evidence that this worked? How many times did we hear how tired players were going into the playoffs since then? How do you even measure it to pat Gillis on the back,,,, good intentions aside. Seriously....

... our playoff run can be credited to Nonis and Burke as much or more than Gillis. These are the ways we have to prop Gillis up but the turth is hes pretty much an agent still. Contracts are his specialty and if you look at the current situation with the contracts on this team, it makes it hard to even give him credit there. It was always "he kept the core intact" applaud applaud. Now Gillis admits this team isnt amongst the elite? Well, those contracts look horrible if the new plan is to get younger.... but we will always have the sleep doctors.... and those contracts. Remember, Gillis wont ask to waive he has always stated....
