Who in the core are the Canucks honestly gonna trade though? its fine to realize it but they just gave the Sedins 4 years at 7 mil that start next year no team is gonna take on 14M. Lou obviously can't be moved

Botchford throwing fuel on the fire with the provies tonight. Speculating that Kelser maybe injured and the Daniel received treatment after that game.

Anyone know how the expansion draft works if everyone on the team dies on an airplane? Or if every player on the team is injured?

Agreed. I'd prefer not to go full-Oilers though, keep around some solid vets to keep the young guys accountable and to set an example. In an ideal world, you trade a few vets for some young players that have at least shown some ability in the NHL, even if not for a full season.

Agreed, and that sort of rebuild doesn't have a great track record of success at the end of the tunnel either. One thing I will say is that the Oilers are hampered by being quite low on the FAs wish list of locations which forces them to develop almost entirely from within, whereas Van seems to be ok in attracting FAs.

Regardless and perhaps most importantly to the bottom line, a full rebuild in Van would empty Rogers Arena by a quarter and that's something the Aquillinis wouldn't stomach. Another factor not many talk about that could hamper us all in Canada is the Canadian dollar. The US will inevitably raise their interest rates making the USD that much stronger in relation to the CAD. At that point we could be back in the 90's and it'll be tougher to match salary offers against teams down south. Hopefully this doesn't happen for some time yet.

My view would be to trade away about 4-5 players between now and the offseason (including probably 2 or 3 of the core). Between the return on that and the possible prospects coming in this team would have quite a different dynamic to it next season.

I think trading 3 of those players would make the retool very quick.
