why would the Islanders still be interested in trading for UFA to be Ryan Miller? they are 12 points out of a playoff spot with 25 games left and a million teams to jump over.

According to P. McGuire Vanek is going to Minnesota, either now or in the off season. He says the only way someone else is going to get him is if the GM is trying to save his job by making the playoffs and really needs a star rental player.

Makes sense to me, but if he goes to Minny now, how does Heatley feel knowing he's out and Vanek is in next season. That would create some animosity wouldn't it? Unless it's a Vanek for Heatley and picks deal.

Oh, isn't it? Yeah, somehow I doubt that a 22 year old, 5'11 offensive Dman, that plays 16 incredibly sheltered (62% offensive zone starts) minutes per game would come in and be the team's best Dman. That having been said, I would have interest in adding him.

Didn't get it either. Moulson was a 30 goal guy with Tavares...hardly a part of their team that was weak. They should have used those assets to acquire a dman if they really wanted to make a push. Even if Vanek scores 35+...was the extra 5 or so goals worth giving up a 1st, 2nd and more money? Made little sense to me.

Vanek to Minny seems inevitable..reminds me of the Hamhuis to Vancouver speculation that was floating around months before he even became a UFA.

intangibles and a glue factor are in very high demand right now.
