Streit must have heard some of those calls to "shoot it" last night on that one powerplay shift when he shot straight into Marleau.
- Lexington Flyer

If he had a slapshot as heavy as Weber's or Chara's, then he can bury his head and blast away. It's either on net or killing someone.

Hard to understand how they are in trouble for the future.

You missed this conversation, but I dont think the current group of young players are a great mesh. Dont get me wrong, they could all become good players, but I just dont see them fitting into either a high scoring team or a stong defensive team. I just dont think the young guys have enough speed.

I'm also ver concerned with the defense. We have some good defensive prospects coming up but it will take them a while before they are impactful players, and I'm not too certain we have a #1 guy in that group.

If it was me, I would address the issue on defense by getting a number 1 guy. Then I would work on getting a pure goal scorer in here, and adding some team speed.

I was thinking that same thing. Tried to wait out Marleau then shot it directly into his leg

you guys are spoiled, centerice very rarely has hd
- -davies-

I think there's only been one non-HD Flyers game for me this year on Center Ice. I believe it was vs. Ott or WPG.

I have Directv, not sure if different for different providers.

I don't think you should be. It sounds like a bad bruise that just needs time and rest to heal, and the Finns first game isn't until the 13th.
- Feanor

i know i shouldn't be but i'm just being honest

Then why don't you propose they go out and get a guy like Buff or Yakupov?

I just don't understand why people think they can project Cousins to be an NHL player when he hasn't demonstrated much at the AHL level.
- PhillySportsGuy

I havent watched the games, so i dont know what his role is on the team, how many minutes he is playing etc... Murray might be asking him to play a defensive game. Do they have advanced stats for AHL players?

Byfuglien, Yakupov and Grabner will solve our problems

I dont understand why people are rushing to get rid of Timonen. He is the Flyers' best defenseman right now. If they don't re-sign him they will need to find someone to replace him. No one, in house, can replace him.
- PhillySportsGuy

One thing I have to question though, is he really our best defenseman right now? Honestly, I don't think any one defender's play has put them head and shoulders above the rest of the corps. Timonen included.

Cousins was also touted as a 3rd liner despite his gaudy OHL numbers. His foot speed and discipline were worries.

I know part of his development has been becoming a better defensive player. I've watched a few Phantoms games. He still looks a ways away before becoming a regular NHL player. I certainly wouldn't be penciling him in as a starter for next season.

There's no doubt that they have to upgrade the defensive mix. But they have a very strong corps of young forwards, and the future is very bright for this team. They have to continue to evolve, make a few key moves. And there's no reason why they can't develop into a top team.

Honestly, over the last handful of games, Gus has risen to the top.
But this season, he's been either our best or second best on a nightly basis.

Timonen is our best defenseman. He's the only two-way defenseman we have right now.

I agree. The other defenseman on the team are all players that have strengths on one side of the puck or the other.

Over the entire season it's been Kimmo though. I don't even think its close. I'm not saying Kimmo is an all star and #1 defenseman, but he's the best we got.

Timonen is still incredibly steady. He would be a very good 2nd pairing defenseman on a very good team.

I think he is, but there's been times where Coburn's played exceptionally well for stretches.

If the Flyers offered Timonen at the deadline, they'd have to hire a new person to help answer the phone.
