You don't want to see the bobsled and cross-country skiing?

But seriously, I will watch for speed skating and curling, the sport you don't care about for 3 years and 49 weeks out of every 4 years but fall in love with for a few weeks.

I was just going to say, curling is one I might watch... right down my ally.

First of all, I'm going to state that I can't tell you what Yakupov is going to become. Haven't seen him play enough. I read some things about him, good and bad. Seen him play a few times where I wasn't impressed. Obviously he's an elite talent or he wouldn't have been selected #1. But that's neither here nor there. I understand wanting a top scoring threat, but how do you know Yakupov is going to be that? If you're going to give up what it takes to acquire a player like that, you better be right, or it's an issue. So the cost is going to be extremely high regardless. I don't think that Edmonton is going to put on him a for sale sign and sell lower any time soon. And lastly, I don't think there is a such a thing as being too top heavy at a position, or having an excess at a position.

I do think he is a buy low right now. He's been scratched, not overwhelmingly adored by the fans, and his numbers are pretty bad. If his agent chimes in with trade talks again he could go lower even.

I won't be upset if we don't get him but if the flyers ever did like yak now is the time to get him.... Not later.

I was talking about Couts, Schenn, Laughton.... Giroux is much differnet then those 3... and of course each one is different then the other, but it seems like they arent diverse enough to make a good combination. EI 3 2-way players. One is better at scoring. one better at defense... and one unknown.... but they are still not really playmakers or snipers. If they were a better mix, then i would say sure fine... depth at center is great...

For Example... our depth before was... Richards... defensive minded 2 way player... Carter... Shooting sniper... Briere... Speedster/Sniper Giroux... Playmaker.

I think the Flyers Centers are a great mix. I think Giroux is a #1 playmaking Center that can also score. I see Couturier blossoming into a great compliment to Giroux, and a top 2 way Center in this League to provide a great 1-2 punch. I feel as though Schenn is going to be an offensive Center, who provides points and a physical presence, who can also play Wing. And Laughton could develop into a solid 3rd line Center who can play well defensively, and provide secondary offense, as well as play on the PK.

I don't believe that his current level of play has anything to do with what Edmonton would require to trade him. They invested a #1 overall pick in him. They aren't going to sell him low. I see that as a false belief.

I think Mac T is willing to make the hard choices to get his team moving in the right direction, and what the Flyers might give... 2-way center, defensive D-man, might be the framework to get it done. I mean you cant say 2 5th overall picks value wise is that far off, but Schenn is much more ready to play big meaninful minutes then Yakupov is.

Must still be without power....yikes.

My parents out in Lancaster were without power for a good 5 hours this morning. I didn't lose power in Philly. I was one of the lucky ones.

It would now be incumbent upon you to find some examples of past 1st-overalls that were dealt 18-months after being drafted, for anything less than a princely sum.

Ice storms usually don't affect the city proper because of underground lines and fewer trees to break and interfere where there are overhead lines.

I always wonder why Amtrak/SEPTA don't do a full clear out of branches over the rights of way the beginning of every fall. It's not like these trees are in people's yards (usually).

I don't feel that the Flyers have a defenseman that Edmonton would be interested in to trade Yakupov to the Flyers.

I know. It's nice to think Edmonton will trade Yakupov for half his initial worth, but thats not going to happen. For them, they might as well hold on to him unless someone matches his potential.

That a players team is +1.1 in shot attempts per sixty minutes when that player is on the ice.

Certainly not to center the deal around. But Coburn, BSchenn & a 3rd? I think that would get the Oilers attention. That said, that is a very fine line of whether or not the deal would be worth it for us.

Me personally, I wouldn't be moving Coburn at all until after FA plays out this summer and we know what our D group is looking like moving forward. Too many question marks right now to be moving him for a forward.

For Nik Grossmann, that number would be terrific.

For somebody like Yak, who should be running roughshod over the cushy match-ups he faces, it could stand to be a lot better.
