It was a really deep draft though. McKinnon, Barkov, Jones, Monahan already look like future stars. Drouin is averaging over 2 points per game in juniors. There are 5 players in that draft that would have been #1 in this draft

You dont have to tell me about last years draft I was there. And the day of the draft, it was still possible Jones goes number 1. And no-one thought he would drop to 2. And if you would have bet he dropped to 4 you would be a rich man right now. Vegas would have given Monster odds. So Why did this happen? Because the teams went with the safer choice of a forward, just like they will likely do in this draft.

Nope... Anthony DeAngelo...

It's surprising that you'd take an undersized offensive defenseman

Nathan MacKinnon was ISS number one before the year started and when the year ended. Drouin/Jones switched a few times. Barkov was the oddball.

But the offensive players in last years draft were absolutely studs. There aren't those guaranteed studs in this draft.

Agreed. I'm really not sold on Sam Reinhart at all.

I'm not really sold on any of them like I was with the guys last year. I think this could be a year where guys who go in the middle of the first round end up being just as good as guys in the top 5.

Jones was number 1 for the majority of the year. Seriously I would like you to find 1 person that thought... no matter what they thought about how deep the draft was... that Jones would drop to 4th. And the only reason I can chalk that up to, is teams hesitate to take defenseman that high.

Ultimately, I would be surprised to see Ekblad drop to 4 like Jones. If Jones develops into a top 5 defenseman, there may be teams regretting their decision. Even if Barkov, McKinnon and Drouin become all stars

No one thought he'd drop out of the top 3. Likewise, no one felt Nichuskin would drop to 10, or that Shinkaruk would drop to 24. It had nothing to do with their positions, but what the team felt was the best fit. Hell, ISS didn't even have Morin going in the first round and the Flyers took him at 11.

For the record, Jones was #1 about half of the year. MacKinnon was #1 to start in October through December and in the final draft ranking.

Also, FWIW, Trouba and Gelinas (who is 22) are having much better rookie years than Jones and they play on worse teams. Not saying Seth Jones is bad, but it's not like he's the next Bobby Orr. There was no clear-cut #1 last year.

I actually prefer a good defense believe it or not, but this team is SOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOO far from being about to play like Boston or LA, that I think the best thing to do if focus on getting good offense.

Sorry, I was occupied. Reading my companies FMLA policies. Do you realize that even men can get a 2 week paid maturnity leave without using sick or vacation time, but a man caring for his wife with cancer must use all vacation and sick time or the time is unpaid.

my dad was able to work flexible hours to take care of my mom
also it finally got to the point where he had to take family leave to take care of my mom full time, he lost his current position at work but they would have to give him another position when he came back
