They did last year but no longer had them (Titans).

Just checked, the have the Greenville Road Warriors.

- jmatchett383

Sorry, late to the party. The Flyers' ECHL affiliate was Trenton last season. That team is currently dormant. The Greenville Road Warriors have been affiliated with the NY Rangers since their first year, 10-11. The Flyers had an agreement to put players there that year. Cullen Eddy, Riopel, Harper, MAB, and a few others spent time with the GRW. After the Trenton franchise declared that they would not participate in 13-14, the Flyers announced that they would be using Greenville again. That agreement fell apart early in the year. It was widely speculated that the NYR prospects were getting preferential assignments and coaching.

While the Flyers have a couple prospects scattered around the ECHL, they do not have an official ECHL affiliation currently. Carson Chubak was originally moved to Orlando, then recalled to the Phantoms while Danis was injured. Murray only played him in one game. He was later loaned to Reading for a brief stay. Chubak is currently back on the Phantoms roster and is a perpetual healthy scratch.

If a trade like that were going to happen, I'd have to wait until I see where the pick is. I would also want someone else besides Gudreau. He has the choice to go anywhere. If he wants to go to the Flyers he will go to the Flyers on his own.

There is no forward (short of a superstar) or package of prospects I would trade Couturier for. It's like trading a young Patrice Bergeron for 2 guys who may or may not be NHL impact players.

Still no. Not a chance.
Also, Ekblad's probably top-2, likely top overall.

Do you really just think Couturier has so little value? Because you're really underestimating his value and overestimating these young unproven players.

If the Flames had the first overall pick and offered it for Couturier, would you do it?

It would have to be B Schenn. They need young, inexpensive offense.

B.schenn will no longer be inexpensive...

Which is totally fine. Granted, Parenteau is the exception rather than the norm, but I don't think Akeson has a fit on here when we have Hartnell/Simmonds/Voracek/Read who are all established NHL scorers ahead of him. Which is why I'd like to see if we can swap him for a young AHL defenseman on a team that needs scoring. But if a guy leads the OHL in scoring and then goes undrafted by all 30 teams, there's clearly a reason.
- jmatchett383

I dunno, with the kind of roster turnover this team experiences from year to year, the picture could change in a hurry. I do agree that if Akeson blossoms, chances are very high it'll probably be elsewhere.

That big year came as an overager. He was definitely a bit of a late-bloomer.

We are not trading Schenn or Couturier stop it. If Vinny and/or Giroux goes down, who do we have to play?

Less expensive than #2 centers on the open market are.

Straight-up? Not a chance. I'm probably overvaluing him here, but he's pretty much untouchable. A player with his skill set, locked up for 2 years at a low hit, under protection after his deal expires for a guy who's yet to play a game? I'll keep him.

Schenn's cap hit will most likely go down after this year.

I would consider doing it. I love Couturier too, but the team does have several young centers and Laughton projects as a fine defensive center man. I admit I like Ekblad a lot.

If it's 2015, sure.

Ekblad, for all his virtues, is probably more Erik Gudbranson than Shea Weber.

For the 2015 first overall, I'd trade anyone but Giroux.

I do too. But is he the next Shea Weber or the next Erik Johnson?
If Reinhart or someone else goes first overall, I'd be trying to swing a trade for the #2 overall pick and would be willing to include anyone besides Giroux/Coots.

If I were a betting man, I would guess McDvaid becomes a star, but I don't think you can give up a known commodity like Giroux for him.

He works as hard as Crosby... that's the most important thing for me. Not sure he's as talented as Crosby, but who knows. Their career arcs look pretty similar so far.

The only way I consider moving Couturier is if he is the major piece of getting a getting a legit under 30 number 1 Dman back .

Weber, Pieterangelo, Doughty , maybe OEL based on what he should turn out to be.

- opeth_pa

Exactly. That is the only condition that I would be willing to trade Couturier.

I wouldn't trade a star/superstar who's the captain of my team for an unknown, no matter how much of a sure thing it seems.

Would you trade Couturier for Ovechkin? Assuming the Flyers had $20M in cap space.
