Luckily, we don't have to worry about "throughout the first"

... Because we suck

I thought you had like 50 1st round picks this year.

GARTH SNOW WAS AN AVERAGE GOALIE IN HIS CAREER.. & NOW HE's A TERRIBLE GM.

This guy blows it on bad trades, bad signings & subpar drafting.

NYI Fans!! Do you guys seriously want this bum running your team into the ground any longer ???

- Erik6Karlsson5

FWIW, I think Pulock is going to be the best value of the past draft.

Nope, only one guaranteed. Isles can defer theirs if it's top 10 for this year. We'll probably trade guys like Miller/Ott/Moulson for mid-range firsts, but I don't see us having too huge of an amount around there.

Don't worry. I was assured that no player has ever walked away from the Islanders when offered market value. Never.

Whatever 1st they may get back will most likely not be as high of a pick as they'll have to give to Buffalo. And I doubt they get an NHL-ready prospect as well.

Dude you guys say the same thing every year. Prospects are prospects and with your GM most of them get traded away. Sorry but to much dead weight on your team and with Vanek most likely leaving the gap just gets bigger. You guys should do everything in your power to try and get Ryan Miller.
- adwolf130

You do realize Mike Milbury isn't the GM any more right? Please name one prospect besides Neiderieter that Garth Snow has traded.

Yes sitting vanek will help his contract talks.
You should have never traded for him unless he was extended.
Moulson is doing well in Buffalo.

- Fakepartofme

Yeah. Hes doing wonderful. Was never sad to see moulson go for one and im no fan of snow in fact I think hes a terribke GM but lets stop with the usual trolling Moulson is some great player routine. The guy is not a great hockey player.

this is amusing coming from a Sens fan, your owner is as much a cheap ass and a crackpot as ours is.

Fortunately that hasn't happened much. As many of us thought, the moment he was taken off of Tavares' wing, his stats plummeted.

Moulson would have likely commanded 6 years, $33 million. If you want to pay that for a 18-20g guy, enjoy. What the Isles end up losing is two high picks in a bad draft and the value of Moulson in a trade, which is sinking by the minute. It was worth the risk.
Esecially if Vanek brings back a 1st and NHL ready prospect

- keaner17

Only think is that Moulson proabbly will be moved for the same amount.
So Buf will end up getting 2 1sts, a 2nd, and a good prospect for Vanek

I don't see that kind of a return for a guy who wants to play for the Wild next year.

If Moulson gets back what Vanek does than Murray should be a candidate for GM of the year.

well aware of that, but it's funny when someone points to someone in the Isles organization and says he's a joke, when his owner is running around pretending to be a CSI and looking for evidence in Cooke-gate.

He will for sure get a 1st rounder and another asset. I think teams would pay that all day long with the thoughts he would be easier to retain by resigning him over getting a more talented Vanek but chances are will just be a pure rental and bolt after the season is done.

If you can do something about this you'll make a ton of Islander fans happy. Remove the coach for us while you're at too, please!

I see. So teams will pay more or equal value for Moulson who is vastly not as good a player as Vanek(which few on hockeybuzz are aware of but i think most GM's have a better handle on it?) due to him being easier to sign? OK. Before you throw up stats that Moulson and Vanek are not far from each other in talent don't. They are not. Moulson is not a good hockey player, I was happy to see him go. Vanek looks like a Selke candidate next to him.

I didnt say more, similiar packages perhaps, but Yes I do believe GMs do take that into consideration, asset management. Do you give up More for Vanek and lose him, or do you give up less and maybe have a better shot at resigning Moulson.

Deadline day packages are always wacky. Sometimes a guy like Gaustad gets you a 1st rounder which seems crazy but Nashville was able to resign him to a long term contract so it doesnt seem so bad now.

Vanek will get a 1st, a player, and a prospect. Kovalchuk, Hossa, Iginla, all those deadline trades are roughly the same package. Moulson should get a 1st and a mid/bottom tier prospect

Agree to an extent but you'd have to factor in the value of said prospects and picks(draft position, quality of prospect, etc...). Moulson is not a player who has proved to be an asset in the playoffs by any stretch quite the contrary actually. Any team that trades for him at the deadline is taking a risk and it's not a good one. He really isn't that good of a player, that's where my prejudice comes from.

LA for Vanek makes the most sense. They would probably have a mid 20s pick, and have names like Muzzin and Toffoli mentioned to obtain a Top 6 Winger

Obviously hoping for the best return but not expecting all that much. Between Snow getting zero respect around the league and the position he is trading from I'm expecting a weak return unless a real bidding war starts.
