I see both resigning together soon. I just can't see either going anywhere. This organization brought them in (especially the undrafted Girardi) and seeing them play elsewhere doesn't make any sense; same with making any moves at this time with key players. - mames11
I never thought the Flyers would trade Carter and Richards, same goes with Columbus and Nash & Buffalo with their big 3. It's happening more and more now. |

Girardi is the perfect for for toronto. Rugged right shooting defensive d man.
I think he would look great beside dion. Even know he's a ufa after seasons end I'd love for t.o to put a offer in. Start with gunnarson and kulamin? Kind of have to match salary, gunner gives them a cheaper safe d man and kuli brings size and defensiveness to the top 9 which they may lose with Callahan...
Thoughts? - langer420
The thought of Girardi playing beside that guy makes me wanna puke. |

You'd be sure to make money on betting every Devils game to go to OT |

Detroit. The wings have lost 31 times but have managed to lose 12 times in OT or a shootout. The Caps only have 17 ROW. |

Carp posted in the comment section of his blog that he heard that Cally was a big part of the Torts' munity, as well as others that were surprising. Hank was much less involved than was originally thought. Says he cant print it in the paper or in a blog because he doesn't have the necessary verification.
Interesting. |

I mean it makes sense. Hank doesn't really deal with the head coach as much as the rest of the team. He deals with Benoit Allaire and stays in his own zone during the games. |

Do I think Cally is worth 7 mil a yr, no. But, if you're him you've watched Sather piss away how many millions on outside players while he nickels and dimes his own free agents. If I'm Ryan Callahan and I know I can get that on the open market, I'm the captain of the team, a big part of it and I just watched Hank get 8 mil a year, I've seen Brad Richards with 7 mil a year, guys like Wade Redden and Scott Gomez getting over 6 & 7 mil a year and I've busted my ass for this organization since I was called up, I'd wanna be paid big time too. |

So cally helps force him out and then is forcing his way out with his demands? I don't know man. This whole thing doesn't pass the smell test. More and more it's where there is Smoke there is fire. Cally may be playing his last game as a Ranger tomorrow... |

Well, all that you mentioned except hank had to leave their team to get that money. So if that's what he wants you have to trade him |

It's the curse of the Rangers Captaincy. Drury was bought out. They let Jagr walk to sign Wade (frank)ing Redden. Messier signed with the Nucks. Pretty bad string here.

The Callahan situation is like a high school sweetheart. You love the girl, you don't want to let her go,she's great, but in the end, you know that staying with her will hold you back, because you are going different directions in life. |

So basically he got the info, off the record. What could Callahan possibly want that the Rangers haven't given other than a 7 year contract worth 6 or 7 million. He's the captain, he's one of the faces of the franchise. I don't get it. |

it's not complicated. he wants 7 years and $6.85 million per year. the rangers want to give him less term and less money. he knows for a fact that a team will give him what he's asking for if he hits the market.
can't blame the dude at all. the difference between our offer and what he wants is over $13 million, and yes i know that he can sign a deal after the 5 years of our offer expire to recoup some of that $13 million, but it won't be close. he'll be leaving $5+ million on the table at the very least.
i thank him for everything he's done and i respect his decision to do what's best not only for him but for his family. if he gets traded, then it sucks but that's part of the business. the way he's played and sacrificed his body his entire career, he's earned the right to ask for whatever he wants and get that deal if someone is willing to offer it to him, which they will.
edit: we're losing a leader and a great hockey player...the type that wins you a cup...but this isn't a situation like the devils where they're losing their best offensive player and a 40+ goal scorer (twice lolz suck it devils). he blocks shots but so does boyle, moore, girardi, staal, mcdonagh, etc. it will be a big loss, but i'm not sure it will be as big as we truly feel. |

I'm really disappointed in Cally and Girardi, if you want to really be here then get it done, I hope they come to their senses and weigh the money with what's been built here |

I have a different take on this. I'll preface by saying I could actually be callahans biggest fan. Lol. (And i really havent seen this said) But I say this about most athletes so its not bias. But if I'm Callahan I'd be demanding the same thing. He sees what these players get...it's the owners fault anyway. He's got one big contract his whole life coming to him..he's worked his whole life to get it. That time is now..He's taking way to much heat on these blogs in my opinion. He's not the bad guy in this. Alot of venom thrown his way. Anyone that says anything negative about cally right now should put themselves in his skates. He's done alot for this org and he feels the same way...rightfully.
People saying sh!t like "good riddance"? (Not here) Gimme a break
Edit: I donot think he deserves what he's asking...but that's a completely different argument |

as captain of the team, do you think the players went to him and asked him to talk to sather? kind of like their representative? |
