Regarding the Pens, there isn't much to blog about.

You're in 1st. You're destroying your division and aren't going to lose that spot.

Sure there are injuries and the Olympics coming up, but those have been talked about to death.

May as well talk about the visiting team, no?

I mean, aren't you Pens fans really just waiting for the playoffs at this point anyways?

That sums things up very nicely IMO.

If the playoffs started today and we were playing the way we have been currently it would be a short post season. And not to be a dbag if I wanted to read about the current state of the Sens I would probably just go read the Sens blog. Just my opinion

Hello,
Lehner passes the statistic test but not the eye test. I watch a lot of hockey. lehner can be rock solid one night then let in 3 questionable goal the next night. turnover from the defensive corps dont help but in is last two start even if one of them was a shutout he didnt look as great as the number show. he was often out of position overplaying pucks then having to turn is back on the play to get back is not a sign that your goalie is feeling it. Considering is age and the spotty defense the sens have after Method and Karlson i dont see putting him in net as a recipe for success.

Questionable goals? I am pretty sure Anderson has let in far more than Lehner has this season. Of the 21 games he has played, he has only had about 3-4 bad games. Or about 1/5. Anderson, on the other hand, has had at least 10 bad games this year (and that's being nice). Or almost 1/3 of his total.

Sure, Lehner hasn't been great in 2 of his last 3 starts (the other being a shutout), but he has also only played 3 games in the last month and a half.

Also, your description of 'turning his back on the play' has described Anderson in almost every single game this season. The guy can't figure out how to play when a forward is behind the net with the puck.

Honestly, your entire post should have Anderson switched out for Lehner.

We are so much alike in the goalie part

We love Flower but until he proves he can win again in the playoffs...

No confirmation on if Eugene Melnyk will be conducting a study to prove the obvious bias the league has against the Senators in regards to penalties called.

Cool site I saw someone post over the weekend... It lists leaders of goals scored in each building. Obviously Mario scored the most at the Civic Arena/Mellon Arena, but any guesses on who holds the current lead at Consol?

I thought it was fine. It has to be hard to come up with new content every day, so some stuff on the visitors is good in my book.

I'm a true Pens fan as you can see it seems like Kunitz is always scoring there. Geno too. I got the right order.

No offense, our lineup has issues. It's not like we are the odds on favorite to win the entire thing. Not even close to me. You will be facing a team that scored a combined two goals in their last three losses to Phoenix, Dallas and Florida.

True, but there's pretty much zero chance anyone catches you for the metro title.

That means your blogger has 2 months to start previewing the playoffs.

I don't know news about Letangs illness just broke that it may be more serious. Brian Domoulin was recently hurt in Wilkes Barre. I mean there are things to blog about. There is a Sens blog if you want Sens news. No offense but I give 2 poops about either of Ottawa's goalies.

Vanek would look great with Sid, but $$ plus the assets needed to give up a rental would make it impossible and stupid.

Teams to look at for possible trades (just based on records vs expectations, not necessarily assets)

LA- team cant score. looks like they would need to make a move to be able to afford a guy like Vanek. Always liked Trevor Lewis, makes 1.375 mil, could be good for the bottom 6.

MIN- team always with high expectations, but really haven't delivered. really don't know who the penguins would be looking at, Wild would surely be looking at a guy like Vanek.

Dallas/Phoenix/Nashville- 3 teams within reach of the playoffs, but really aren't expected to make it.

Basement Dwellers (EDM, CGY, BUF)- The big names will come from here, the problem is that the price will be higher for guys like Ott when in reality you could find a much cheaper and similar player elsewhere.

Shero really has his work cut out for him. I think he learned his lesson last year that no matter the player's past, his fit on this year's team needs to be exact.

It seems like it is a 3rd line winger or a top 6 guy.

I don't mind him talking about it, but yea, if you opened that blog and I based it completely on the material, I would have surely have thought that it was a sens blog.

I always prefer the comments to the blog anyway.
EDIT: re-read that last part and it seemed like I was saying that I don't enjoy Ryan's blogs, in general I prefer reading the comments, I just think they give more perspective.

Kunitz also seems to score more opening goals than anybody else. For anybody that does the Pens predictor, I had a friend point out to me the frequency with which #14 seems to score first and without looking it up my gut says it has to be leaps and bounds above the next closest. Ive pretty much solidified him as my choice and he has come through more often than not when that question gets texted out.

true. maybe i may be in the minority, but i dont mind some insight into the visiting team. it keeps you current on issues around the league that you may not otherwise be presented with. im not blaming you specifically or anything because you always are a good dude on here, but i also just dont really feel the need to publicly criticize a blogger for putting things up, especially when the overall body of work has been nothing short of great.

Mono is an interesting thought. I had heard he has a shoulder problem. He did have an infection in his elbow and he may have something in his system as a result of that. or possibly it wore down his immune system and made him susceptible to something? Dunno. Wouldn't mind a call up od Despres but we should at least roll over that dead horse to even out the beating.

I like the extra info on the opposing team. It makes watching the game more enjoyable when there are separate story-lines to follow.

I hadn't thought about the US Olympic decision and Bobby Ryan, and once I read that I remembered he was picked second to Crosby. That kids gonna play well tonight!

And Ottawa fans, it's real nice to read the comments when bashing the other team isn't the sole focus. Good luck tonight!
