Honestly, the games where guys like Orr and McLaren or Parros are the most "active" it's when the game is a total blowout, one way or the other.

well i think back then, you couldn't make the NHL if you couldn't contribute in some other way. whereas today, with 30 teams, there's room on the roster for guys like Parros and Orr. Colton Orr would not be in the NHL if this was 1990.

Yeah, most of them could contribute. Though, Nilan improved a lot over the course of his career.

Yeah, but teams also scored also 1.5 more goals per game at the time.
