what do the isles need (organizational holes) and what would be a fair return for vanek?
- sensarmy_11

Top four Defensemen and a goaltender. A real goaltender, not some mid-level prospect or a good vet headed to UFA.

same as they were when snow made the vanek trade, goaltending and defense.

Frankly though, I don't see what Ottawa has that would benefit us. Your defense isn't playing that great and you're not moving Lehner and I wouldn't want anyone else.

Grigorenko is young but his work ethic is terrible.

anderson?

on a great contract, only 30....and has clearly shown (despite a rough patch to start this year) that he's a quality goalie.....certainly an upgrade over what you currently have.

that being said, i don't think sens would move him for a rental.

I think you are going too far man... he is 19 years old and has never even been placed in a situation in Buffalo where he wasn't in the bottom 6... he has played with Scott, Ellis, Kaleta, Tropp, Flynn, and maybe Leino or Foligno a little bit...

being a third line center is not what he needs. He is a PERFECT example of why the NHL needs to abolish the whole "no 19 or under age guys in the AHL" rule because Grigo is a PERFECT example of a guy that just needs time on NA ice with his teammates against like talent..

They might as well trade him to Minnesota now, while they can still get something for him, He will end up there next season anyway. So he can play along side his Bum chums Jason Pominville and Keith Ballard..

Yea, Pommer's a bum.

Go watch a hockey game.

not interested in anderson. I want someone who's playing well, young enough to stick for half a decade and not suddenly decline. I would not throw away Vanek for a goaltender having an awful season and hope he found his game behind our shoddy defense.

not that bad.....his first 10 games or so were pretty bad....but he's only lost like 1 of his last 12 games, or something like that.

Granted it is in the Q... but when he gets top 6 minutes with other skilled players around him.... he already has 8 pts in 6 games in the Q...

he will be back in Buffalo after the deadline I bet.. I've heard they want him and Armia to play together a bit this year..

gotta wonder if vanek is gone before tomorrows game and if not how he will be handled... i wonder how the crowd will treat him if he is still an islander on thursday...could be a bloodbath.

I hate Luongo's contract, but frankly, if the deal was something like:

luongo, edler

for

vanek, amac, poulin

I'd be all over it. Not because of Luongo, but because despite Edler's disappointing season, he'd be a massive upgrade for our defense.

Luongo would bother me because his contract is far too long and behind our defense he's going to get shelled, but I'd take it to get the deal done.

Going to be tough to keep him until March 5. Have to think he will get the Smyth treatment. Going to be a very tough crowd.

- JVince11

What a joke. Even last year, what a joke.
