i'm saying that it's certainly an option that JT will leave if the islanders still suck. would you agree?

and prior to strome's callup, i often said that strome will be eased into the NHL like all prospects are through limited minutes in a limited role like the 3rd line while you guys said that he would instantly start on either JT's wing or as the 2nd line center.

- rangerdanger94

5 years from now in a new building, if they still are in this position then everyone will be wanting out.

You're trolling to get a reaction. There's no hockey talk here, there's no discussion, you're rubbing your hands together with glee because you're a rangers fan and the Isles haven't been able to resign Vanek.

If there was a reason for someone to get a temp ban, this would be it.

Sens should be all over this but they wont be
- top shelf 15

who would you want them to give up?

i wouldn't trade ceci or zibby.....and we don't have a 1st this year.

i honestly don't think the sens have the pieces (that they'd be willing to move) that the isles would want.

Here is some truth for u... Ranger fans think they are the Yankees of Hockey. They are the cubs. You have the same amount of cups as an Islander team that was started in 1972. You played for over 30 years with 6 teams. You guys are a joke and seem to think you are the Franchise we should all be striving to be like... You spend more and do less than any other team throughout Hockey.
- niteislander

who cares about who won how many cups in the first 50 years of the league? that's like leaf fans who brag about all their cups....when in reality, those cups are pretty god damn irrelevant. all i know is that the rangers have won a cup a decade more recently the islanders have, and with that i say suck it

Sounds vaguely familiar ...

Just hope your front office can actually develop those picks and bring in some vets. Otherwise you will find yourself in year 7 of a 5 year rebuild.

- JimmyP

We seem to be able to develop players just fine, aside from grigorenko which was a complete cluster (frank). What I'm hoping for is that we call some of our current guys up and let those 2nd rounders develop. Obviously if we pick first overall id like to see him play in the NHL but I'm ok with waiting.

almost everything i've heard about this years draft is things like....average, mediocre, bad, etc.

i haven't once heard the words good or great used to describe it.

mackenzie, for what it's worth, said he doesn't feel there is a single "NHL ready" player in the draft this year, and no likely "superstars" in the same grain as Jones, mackinnon, mcdavid, hall, etc.

obviously nothing is written in stone, but pretty much EVERYONE agrees that next years draft is MUCH stronger then this years draft. unless the isles are picking in the top 3 (which is pretty unlikely, buf, edm, cgy) and are certain they're outside the top 10 next year (which i also feel is unlikely) then IMO they'd be dumb to keep the pick this year.

- sensarmy_11

That is my thoughts too... I think that if this pick is anything other that 4 or less that they basically have to give it to us...

They're really aren't any killer UFAs that are on teh market this year that could improve the team drastically enough to ensure them that next year they wouldn't be giving us a top 10 pick in a VERY good draft class.

Yeah who wants to see the 2nd round anyway
- cranford93

ahhahahahaahah.. yeah that is the goal for every team. Second round or bust. You hang your hat on that. ... you were "cup favorites" last year and u got into the playoffs in the last game of the year. You squeeked by the first round b/c of that game where u had 5 PP and caps had none... congrats on that second round. Well done!!

So the Rangers are better because they won a Cup 20 years ago and have never made it past the ECF since? That's like arguing which midget is taller.

To be honest the Sabres could benefit greatly from this draft. IF they have 2 top 10 picks (Im hoping they use the NYI pick to mvoe up)

They have 2 top 10 picks playing another year in juniors progressing and they do not help the Sabres get any better next year leading to another (Hopefully McDavid) top pick

you guys were pretty damn giddy about making it barely into the 1st round. you guys would've creamed your pants if you made it into the 2nd round...hell if you took the penguins to 7 games even.

IMO it would be smart for the Isles to do what the Rags are doing with Callahan and allow teams to talk to his agent.

the rangers are better because they have made it to the playoffs 7 of the past 8 years and have made it out of the 1st round 4 of those 8 years including a run to the ECF one of those years.

the islanders have only made it to the playoffs 1 time in the last 6 years, and that 1 appearance was in a lockout shortened season when they got bounced in the 1st round.

after this season, it will be 1 playoff berth in the past 7 years and for the rangers, it could be 8 playoff berths int he past 9 years.

so for those reasons, the rangers are clearly better than the islanders.

What happened there, i was all of the Sabres trading for him, i was hoping he would have been part of the Vanek deal.

Is it just a case of bad fit in an organization, with no real spot to use him? Or is it he is just not good?

i dont' think so......even if we could sign him

i wouldn't trade a 19 year old ceci or 20 year old zibby STRAIGHT UP for vanek, signed or not.

not saying they're better players right now, but vanek is 30 and will start to regress soon (if he hasn't already), while ceci and zibby have barely started to develop.

i'd gladly move some of our other prospects/players (wiercioch, prince, puempel, stone, etc) but would the isles have any interest....especially since ottawa doesn't have a 1st to add to the deal?

i think other teams could make better offers

We've both won nothing. That's all that matters. Congrats on the first and second round losses.

correct me if I'm wrong, weren't the rangers 1-2 pts ahead of us?
You've got issues with Girardi and Callahan and will likely have to move them or see them walk as well, trying to provoke a reaction from Isles fans over Vanek seems a little pot & kettle.
