I am still not sold on that NYI is gonna push their 1st to Buffalo until next year.. I bet NYI finishes at about #6 or 7...

This draft is not considered to be deep at all after the top 4 picks and not of the top 4 picks in this year's draft would even crack the top 5 in next year's draft it sounds like.

Either way NYI has already dealt their 2nd rounder this year and next year.. if I was NYI.. I would give Buf the pick this year regardless because with how good next year's draft is supposed to be.. you don't want to not have a pick until the 3rd round.

- JVince11

The Isles will have a top 5 pick. I have no idea is they will keep it or not. It's probably good for Buffalo either way.

Man its gonna be tough for JT and KO to make sure they don't pass the puck to vanek for the next while...lol bet they set up his locker in the run way too..... seriously though I say get the stat up there boys, we need to maximize this next trade...really they need to unload him like yesterday....

but what about strome?? i thought he was supposed to be your 2nd line center the minute he stepped onto NHL ice?

- rangerdanger94

I thought Stepan was going to score 40 this year?

He DOES have a point. If you're a legit superstar and the team around you is hovering at medicore to bad, and $$ is going to be equal no matter where you are, you might be inclined to leave. I just don't think the Islanders will even make it an option.

Like randomly saying that JT is going to leave, and saying that Strome was sent down because he wasn't good? Yeah I'd say that's trolling

mmm no? don't remember seeing that prediction.

i do remember seeing a few predictions that the islanders would finish ahead of the rangers though.

Almost wish they trade Vanek this week. It's going to a slow dead man walking until March 5.

you honestly think they'll keep it this year, and give up the chance of maybe getting mcdavid next year?

this years draft is one of the weakest in recent memory, even within the top 10....and next years draft is projected to be one of the better ones.

there is no guarantee that the isles will be much better next year then this year......IMO, they'd be dumb to give up their pick next year.

- sensarmy_11

Ive heard every possible angle about this draft. From great to bad.

If it top 10... they will probably keep it.
- jimmc7722

Do you really think so? I don't know if I forsee NYI being a 10+ team next year though... not trying to troll I am just saying.. Buffalo will be top 2 this year and next year already... I can't imagine that NYI would want to risk giving us a top 10 or top 5 pick next year in that loaded class.

i'm saying that it's certainly an option that JT will leave if the islanders still suck. would you agree?

and prior to strome's callup, i often said that strome will be eased into the NHL like all prospects are through limited minutes in a limited role like the 3rd line while you guys said that he would instantly start on either JT's wing or as the 2nd line center.

This year's draft looks VERY top heavy, with 1-4 being big potential, and then a drastic tailing off.

Ths Isles are in a pickle on deciding if they want to not have a pick in rds 1 or 2 in '15.

I honestly don't think it will matter at all what year we get it. We are at the bottom of the league and are loaded with draft picks for the next two years. Even if we don't get the islanders pick this year we will still pick top three with our own pick. Basically no matter what it will benefit us.

I think that if the pick is pushed to next year to give to us... we will already have a top 3 pick and if we have another... there is no way that we are not putting them together in order to ensure we get McDavid...

We have 3 2nds this year and 3 2nds next year too to move up the draft.

yea either way.. we are gonna suffer for another year in a half.

It's an option yes, but you WERE making it sound like an inevitability. So I can see their point.

Sounds like in each deal for either Miller, Moulson, or Ott that we are asking for a late 1st too... you can always package a 25 pick with a 2nd round pick or two in order to move up to 14-18.

if they get a first back for vanek and a roster player (defense) I'd still trade the first this year again..

Here is some truth for u... Ranger fans think they are the Yankees of Hockey. They are the cubs. You have the same amount of cups as an Islander team that was started in 1972. You played for over 30 years with 6 teams. You guys are a joke and seem to think you are the Franchise we should all be striving to be like... You spend more and do less than any other team throughout Hockey.

Sounds vaguely familiar ...

Just hope your front office can actually develop those picks and bring in some vets. Otherwise you will find yourself in year 7 of a 5 year rebuild.

almost everything i've heard about this years draft is things like....average, mediocre, bad, etc.

i haven't once heard the words good or great used to describe it.

mackenzie, for what it's worth, said he doesn't feel there is a single "NHL ready" player in the draft this year, and no likely "superstars" in the same grain as Jones, mackinnon, mcdavid, hall, etc.

obviously nothing is written in stone, but pretty much EVERYONE agrees that next years draft is MUCH stronger then this years draft. unless the isles are picking in the top 3 (which is pretty unlikely, buf, edm, cgy) and are certain they're outside the top 10 next year (which i also feel is unlikely) then IMO they'd be dumb to keep the pick this year.
