I honestly think he wants to go to Minnesota, and is just being PR-friendly in NYI for the time-being when asked about extensions, when in reality the only team he wants to play for are the Wild.

This is a statement made by someone who doesn't pay any attention at all to the islanders. Many always assume guys are hating being on Long Island. We have heard for years how JT would leave, Nabby would run out of here.. Weight couldn't wait to leave.. Every player who plays on Long Island if he is offered the $ stays. Period.. Never has anyone who played here left when offered a deal.

Yes.. i am sure Minn who's owners have been non stop whining about how much they are losing the past 2 years are dying to take on another big salary.
- niteislander

Minnesota' problem was the prior cap. Now that it's 50/50, they're doing just fine.

isnt it only a max 7 year deal since you didnt draft the guy or has hasnt played a full season prior with the Islanders. Thought that was the rule. If someone is telling you 8 years they dont know the new CBA rules yet

Also this shoudnt be a surprise, he told the Sabres he didnt want to negotiate a contract during the season either.

true enough but Snow needs to know now so he can see what he can get for him. he had great chemistry in the end with KO and JT but I honestly feel like KO is the one making that line right now what it is. Had Snow gone out and addressed the issues on this club and made them more legit he still may have said no anyway....get what you can now....get the players we need in the positions we stink in ....move Amac with him and get the best trade possible....still not sure minny is the team though..don't they have most of the $$ tied up in a couple of big players already...

What about one Tomas Vanek? He seems to fit the criteria.
Plays for Long Island - check
Offered big-time $$ - check
Set to leave - check

while I would rather see Vanek signed, this may turn out to be a good thing for us if he gets us back a goaltender or defenseman that upgrades us at those positions.

Nelson could be moved up to play with the top line, or Strome when he comes back.

Move Vanek and Amac and get something in return, maybe in the summer we'll do something other than add fringe players for once.

they lost 30 million last year... and this ownership was not even around before this cap. So that is incorrect. http://sports.yahoo.com/b...on-lockout-155615565.html

it's a repeat of that. Essentially, Snow gambled making the move he could sell Vanek on the Isles, however without the follow up moves to shore up the defense and goaltending that we all knew were necessary, along with a coach that actually could you know, coach, that the team wasn't going to go anywhere.

The lack of moves to follow up the Vanek trade is a mystery and one that cost us the chance to keep him here.

That's too bad. Hope the Isle are able to get (or close to/more) what they gave up for him.

Yes I am... the only guys we were unable to sign did not play here.. It's just a dumb comment. still waiting for JT to "run out of long island" the first second he is able.

I'm just pointing out what people in Minnesota have said, as opposed to looking at $27M in expense paid to 2 players and lost home games.

Told you guys he was an entitled wiener....

Supposedly we offered him a "max deal" too and he turned it down...

I am still curious if we get your 1st this year or next... either way one of the two years you guys will not have a pick until the 3rd round..

Kinda surprised... I thought he would stay.

Don't hate him for it... it is a business, and he can choose where he wants to go.

Isles did everything right with him... let's see what the return will be now.

Too bad... I guess we beg Moulson to come back next year...lol.

So you're confident 100% that he'll resign. Because, as you said, "Every player who plays on Long Island if he is offered the $ stays. Period.. Never has anyone who played here left when offered a deal." So as long as he's offered a deal (which it sounds like he was), he will surely be an Islander for years to come.

Nabby and Weight were no longer prime time young talent and JT is not a UFA. It will be harder and harder for JT to continue to accept this mess.
