Disappointed that Vanek won't sign here but I never saw it happening. I may be in the minority but I didnt like the trade from the beginning. It was however the only shot we had at signing a big free agent. However, Snow has a poor track record of making moves that impact the team in the present. He has made good moves but the last couple of years when the isles needed an impact move he hasn't come through. So until snow gets a goalie and now another top line winger I won't have faith in him to do what he needs to do. I hope he proves me wrong |

Prototypical Islanders fan- the only joy
they get between October and April is criticizing the NYR
Don't worry, it's almost June, that's the month the Isles fans love the most (and not for the playoffs). That's when the great draft day GM Garth Snow works his magic.
It's time for Nabokov to retire so the Isles can hire their next GM - rsmarro

This is not Snows make or break year. He will be the GM for as long as Wang owns this team. Cappy may be let go for Doug Weight but that wont do anything to improve the team. |

Caps may miss the playoffs this year.... Looks like a first round exit for the rangers

I can't argue with you there- until they prove otherwise.

Hard to think of another GM beside Garth surviving from something like this. |

Garth has done a solid job given the resources and obstacles he has been given. Wang won't splurge to overpay average free agents, no good free agent wants anything to do with u guys even if u overpay, and he locked up jt and hamonic to solid deals. His drafting is hit or miss. But seriously who could do anything better? |

Hey, no need to get pushy, I get it. If no one else will give you the time of day, you gotta talk to yourself. |

Seems like you two are giving me the time of day.
Don't worry, I understand it must be brutal rooting for that team.
Even the Broncos realized last night that Orange and Blue can't win in NY

David Pagnotta: You can’t really blame Vanek for wanting to test the free agent market this summer. It may not mean that the Islanders are completely out of the mix when free agency starts. Would have to think the asking price for Vanek is a proven young stud or a top prospect and a high draft pick. Kings should be among the teams interested. |

Other have managed with a low payroll in all sports. Just keeping Cappy as coach is bad enough. Isles just offered a huge deal to Vanek so is money really as big an issue as it is made out with the Isles? |

Not really they offered him the same deal he has now. Vanek will get 8 mill per for seven years and that is what he is holding out for. |

Yes, I think it is. Other teams have managed with low payrolls, but you guys have wasted a good amount of space just to get to the floor in buyouts and contracts like tim thomas'. For all that cap space you waste trying to get to the floor, thats millions on your books that isnt actually being usedby nhl talent. |

Do we know that for a fact? What about the other FA's that turned down bigger deals from the Isles? I have a hard time believing if Garth told Wang we really need this coach or player that he would say no. |

If Garth did a better job managing the team, maybe the horse would listen? Did we really think Vanek would be impressed when the team tanks a month and nothing is done? |
