Rangers blog is talking about Cally for Stewart. How about Vanek for Stewart? He comes at a cheap price, is big and can allow us to spend another few million on goaltending and defense.

the rangers are better because they have made it to the playoffs 7 of the past 8 years and have made it out of the 1st round 4 of those 8 years including a run to the ECF one of those years.

the islanders have only made it to the playoffs 1 time in the last 6 years, and that 1 appearance was in a lockout shortened season when they got bounced in the 1st round.

after this season, it will be 1 playoff berth in the past 7 years and for the rangers, it could be 8 playoff berths int he past 9 years.

so for those reasons, the rangers are clearly better than the islanders.

Love your parameters here... u fail to mention that before your recent "playoff second round domination" you failed to rach the playoffs for about 8 years with the highest payroll in the NHL. ... U also fail to mention the Isles were in the playoff for the 2 years previous to your 6 year stat... bottom line is none of that matters. u have one cup in 70 years... with u being 1 of 6 teams for 1/2 of those years. You had 2 teams move within 30 miles of you in the 70's and rattle off 7 cups since. ... enjoy your second round playoff run!!

It may have dropped, but his value is not low. Look at the Iginla trade last season: Pitt gave up a ton for a guy not producing or as productive as Vanek is. The isles should be able to get a similar package for Vanek this year.
- Jethro09

My guess is you'd probably get a 2nd round pick for him, unless the team he is being traded to has the option to sign him long term. If not, he's just a rental so the price will be low. Also - he's NOT Igilna!

Never been a big fan of Stewart. Plus, I think the forwards will survive without Vanek...if they get a player back, rather it be D or G. Don't get me wrong...the forwards are certainly better with Vanek, but I think KO and JT will still be fine with whoever they put there on the left side, and they have a couple of players to call up who could fill in any gap left in the other lines. The catastrophe facing this team is on the other end of the ice.

We need to focus on all three now. We only have scoring from one line. Without Vanek that line will not be as prolific (Granted it still will be good).

Here is some truth for u... Ranger fans think they are the Yankees of Hockey. They are the cubs. You have the same amount of cups as an Islander team that was started in 1972. You played for over 30 years with 6 teams. You guys are a joke and seem to think you are the Franchise we should all be striving to be like... You spend more and do less than any other team throughout Hockey.

Your bitterness and jealousy is coming through loud and clear.
Vanek will be missed by the 8 thousand fans the Isles get at their home games.

Guess its time Howie and Butch end the name the Taveras line contest.

Iginla was old and not producing like he used to when he was traded. Vanek has more trade value than him. Vanek is not Bossy either but he still has more trade value at this point in time.

The problem is finding a goalie or D willing to sign. At least good ones. I'm not familar with Stewart.

correct, he isnt iginla...he is much more effective in his career right now than iginla was when he was traded...something tells me a team who is a top winger away from making a serious run at a cup would be willing to part with more than a 2nd rounder.

The biggest insult a ranger fan can come up with. If the Isles shared MSG with the Rags the Rangers would be a distant memory by now and the Isles would be immortalized. I will take the Isles 20,000 die hards over the 50,000 ranger fans who couldn't name more than Hank on the team.

sure they could use some help up front...but there is no question goalie and defense has to be addressed.

i'm saying that it's certainly an option that JT will leave if the islanders still suck. would you agree?

and prior to strome's callup, i often said that strome will be eased into the NHL like all prospects are through limited minutes in a limited role like the 3rd line while you guys said that he would instantly start on either JT's wing or as the 2nd line center.

But wtf does this have to do with the blog? Seriously go away

And behind the bench and elsewhere. Wonder if Howie will be having a state of the Isles with Charles soon?

Isles should look to move him before the Olympics, in case he gets injured

I also don't believe the "similar contract" bs, they definitely offered him more money.

who cares about who won how many cups in the first 50 years of the league? that's like leaf fans who brag about all their cups....when in reality, those cups are pretty god damn irrelevant. all i know is that the rangers have won a cup a decade more recently the islanders have, and with that i say suck it
- rangerdanger94

And you were'nt born yet when they won it so stfu
